Obama Continues to Rely on Celebrities on Campaign Trail, They Even Go Door-to-Door in Swing States

President Obama has really started vamping up his use of celebrities in his campaign lately. After lavish fundraisers earlier this summer hosted by celebrities such as George Clooney, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, and Glee creator Ryan Murphy, stars are now being used in campaign ads and even going door-to-door in swing states.

Just last week, as part of a major 100-days-out nationwide organizing initiative, the campaign deployed former “Scrubs” co-stars Zach Braff and Donald Faison to go door to door in Las Vegas registering voters. Alfre Woodard went to beauty shops in Richmond, Va. while Don Cheadle left the set of “Iron Man 3” in Durham, N.C., to stop by area barbershops.
Justin Long refereed a dodgeball game at Dartmouth University in New Hampshire, on a multi-state tour for him that also included a young professionals happy hour in central Virginia. And Ryan Phillippe will soon head to Iowa for other events targeting young voters.

Last week, Eva Longoria travelled to Florida to help DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Shultz open campaign offices and hold summits on womens issues. In addition, the Obama Campaign released this video in which Elizabeth Banks promotes Planned Parenthood and bashes Mitt Romney.

At least the United Mine Workers of America union has decided not to endorse Obama in this election after a heavy endorsement in 2008.
