At a House Judiciary Committee hearing yesterday, I questioned Attorney General Eric Holder about the Justice Department’s investigation into allegations that IRS employees intentionally targeted conservative organizations, including Tea Party-affiliated groups, for additional scrutiny in their applications for tax-exempt status.
Specifically, I asked if the Department’s investigation would be limited to the Ohio allegations or if it would be a nationwide investigation that examines allegations of unfair targeting of conservative
Think about the things that Texas is known for. Oil, trucks, cowboys, cows and big city life. Also, a gun loving governor and a booming economy. Oh, yeah and the myth that everything is bigger in Texas, right? We've got big trucks, big hair and...big government? Big government, you say? Sadly, yes.
Back in 1999, the Texas Legislature signed a bill into law that granted a panel of doctors, appointed by the hospital in which they work, to help with end of life directives. What does that mean, exactly? Well, if you wanted to go all Sarah Palin, then, I guess you could call these death panels. As we all know, the 83rd legislative session of the Texas house is coming to a close. This year proved to be a fairly quiet one, until now. The current legislative body has apparently
Congressman Ted Poe co-sponsored H.R. 180, the National Blue Alert Act of 2013, a bipartisan bill that would implement a national “Blue Alert” system throughout the United States in order to properly and promptly disseminate information when a law enforcement officer has been severely injured or killed in the line of duty. The Blue Alert would closely mirror the “Amber Alert” system, notifying law enforcement, media, and the public when a suspect is wanted for attacking a local, state, or federal law enforcement officer. The Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) recently published a paper analyzing President Obama’s proposed FY 2014 budget. TSCPA began its non-partisan analysis by quoting from the President’s budget message that stated he wanted to “eliminate unnecessary fossil fuel subsidies that impede investment in clean energy sources.” TSCPA noted that the President hopes that by eliminating
Things are only getting worse for the Administration, but that's what they should expect when intentionally misleading the American people. Scandal after scandal is coming to light, and today Attorney General Eric Holder is testifying before the House Judiciary Committee, which I sit on. You can watch the hearing live at 1pm ET/12pm CT here. I am really looking forward to holding him accountable for his actions at the Department of Justice, but I want to
Here is a thought: what if our atmosphere needs more CO2 as opposed to less? Harrison Schmitt, former astronaut and current professor at University of Wisconsin at Madison, and Professor William Happier of Princeton wrote recently, “Contrary to what some would have us believe, increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will benefit the increasing population on the planet by increasing agricultural productivity.” This is the complete opposite of what we are being told, but it does make sense for three reasons.
Last week, Internal Revenue Service (IRS) officials admitted that they targeted conservative groups for extra scrutiny in 2012. Specifically, the IRS flagged groups that had “tea party” or “patriot” in their application for tax-exempt status. These groups were subjected to intense scrutiny which many said hindered their activities. They were asked to fill out forms that requested information about their donors. Additionally, they had to submit information about group members' political activities, including details of their postings on social networking websites. As more information is becoming public from an internal investigation, it seems that the IRS targeted a wide range of groups, including those whose mission mentions government spending, debt, or making America a better place to live. Much has been said about the shortage of ammunition. Rumors (and some verified facts) have been abundant about DHS and other federal agencies stockpiling ammo. During the NRA Annual Meeting held in Houston earlier this month, I talked to several industry insiders to try to information about what is happening to our ammo. One such insider is Roy Huntington, publisher of the Firearms Marketing Group's (FMG) gun magazines like American Handgunner.
Roy told me, and I confirmed this with several ammo manufacturers, that the reason there is a shortfall of ammunition is because of one thing - consumer binge purchasing. Yes, it seems we are hoarding ammunition and buying it faster than companies can make it.
You want to know the meaning of Benghazi? It is very simple: the only person so far who has been punished was the filmmaker Nakoula Basseley. Nakoula produced the now infamous youtube video on the prophet Mohammed, which we now know did not cause the Benghazi attack. As for those in charge, we now know they lied to the American people, they intimidated witnesses, and an innocent man was put into jail where he still sits.
