Foster: Executive action on immigration was precedented, right thing to do

Issues:

Originally published in the Houston Chronicle.

President Barack Obama's Thursday night announcement constitutes historic, sweeping and necessary action to not only do what is the right and humanitarian thing for the potential beneficiaries, but also what is right for the U.S. and our economy. Texas Education Reforms are Key in Promoting the Middle Skills

Issues:

Sweeping education reforms passed by the Texas Legislature in 2013 will be a great help to business leaders in Houston as they embark on an unprecedented push to promote “middle skills” jobs.  Those are well-paying jobs that require more than a high school diploma but less than a degree from a four-year college or university.  It’s estimated that a whopping 40 percent of jobs in the greater

Setting the Record Straight on Joe Straus

Issues:

Another hugely successful season for Republicans is behind us, which gives us plenty of reasons to unite to accomplish even more. Unfortunately, a coordinated, professional smear machine is having none of it, and another faux Speaker’s race has begun.

The machine responsible for these Speaker “races” incites followers with half-truths, distortions and lies. The behavior of the incited is anything but civil. Supporters of Speaker Straus, including those who are not even elected officials, have been the subject of threats, intimidation and character assassination. Will our offices be vandalized or burglarized again as they have multiple times during previous “races?” Read more about Setting the Record Straight on Joe Straus

Is the Republican Delegation of the State of Texas for Sale?

Issues:

"You were bought with a price." 1 Corinthians 6:20

We all were, if you are a Christian. Jesus paid the ransom for our sin with his own blood so that we could have eternal life. Pretty hefty price, if you ask me.

One could say that our delegation of Texas State Representatives have been bought with a price, too. Not one as noble as the price that Christ paid for our sins. What I'm talking about here is their vote for the Texas Speaker of the House, bought and paid for by current Speaker of the House, Joe Straus. Follow the money, especially all the lobbyist money Straus distributes with strong strings attached. Read more about Is the Republican Delegation of the State of Texas for Sale?

House Lawsuit Against Obamacare

Issues:

On Friday, the House of Representatives officially filed a lawsuit against the Obama Administration for its unprecedented overreach. The lawsuit specifically challenges two facets of Obamacare: the two unlawful delays of the employer mandate, and the insurance subsidies the government hands out outside of the congressional appropriations process.

The Administration is “enforcing” rules that Congress didn’t include in the law – in fact, they’re acting outside of the law entirely. The lawyer taking our case, Jonathan Turley, summed up

ObamaCare: The Enron of healthcare

Issues:

People should be in JAIL over ObamaCare!

What Gruber exposed about the “crafting” of the ObamaCare lie is, as Katie Pavlich put it recently, tantamount to a corporation lying about a product it sells.

Katie rightfully said that a CEO would go to jail for what Obama did. So why isn’t Obama in jail? ObamaCare is the Enron of healthcare. ObamaCare pretends to do positive things, but in fact it is smoke and mirrors intended to enrich a small few. Read more about ObamaCare: The Enron of healthcare

Immigration Accountability Executive Action Explained

Issues:

Last week, President Obama announced his Immigration Accountability Executive Action (IAEA). The IAEA addressed Employment-Based immigration issues that are meant to boost the United States economy.

I. Portable Work Authorization for High-Skilled Workers awaiting Green Cards and their Spouses; Allocation of Immigrant Visas

This would affect employees with approved “LPR applications”

Article II, Section 3 – Four Words Speak Volumes

Issues:

Much has been said and little can be added to the criticism of our current president and his unilateral action to legalize many of those here illegally, clearly against the will of Congress and the American people.

Though oft ignored, the Constitution does NOT give him or any other president legislative powers. A quick read of Article II reveals not one iota of such authority. In fact, Section 3 actually reveals that the Founders wanted the president to have NO such powers (such as the tyrant King George had) at all!
