Congressman Sam Johnson Joins North Texans in Waving Goodbye to the Wright Amendment

Issues:

It was almost a decade ago that Jeb Hensarling and I introduced The Right to Fly Act. And on October 13, our dream will be fully realized – North Texans will now be free to fly where they want to, from where they want, when they want to, on what airline they want to – and at more affordable prices.

While the repeal of the Wright Amendment is widely supported today, that wasn’t always the case.

Fight Continues: Turner, Boehner, Portman Push for New Answers for Delphi Salaried Retirees

Issues:

Dayton, OH—This week, Congressman Mike Turner (R-OH), Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), and Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) were joined by the entire Ohio Republican delegation in a letter that pushes for new answers on behalf of the Delphi Salaried Retirees. In 2009, more than 20,000 Delphi Salaried Retirees had their pensions unjustly terminated in the wake of the federal government’s bailout of General Motors. Senator Cruz Pens Op-Ed on Obama’s Failed ISIS Policy

I recently wrote an op-ed in Politico responding to President Obama’s admission that the United States underestimated ISIS. President Obama’s willingness to make concessions to the Islamic Republic in pursuit of a deal, while innocent Americans languish in their prisons, suggests he is underestimating the threat of a nuclear Iran as well.

On Sept. 26, 2012, an American pastor named Saeed Abedini who was

387 Bills Stuck in the Senate

Here’s something you won’t hear about on the news: right now, there are 387 House-passed bills stuck in the Senate. These bills, many with broad bipartisan support, contain the policy changes needed to jump-start the American economy, secure our border, and rein in an out-of-control federal bureaucracy. Week after week, the House has drafted, debated, and passed bills that address the many crises facing our country. The overwhelming majority of these bills are collecting dust on Harry Reid’s desk. Senator Cornyn on CBO Report: Nation is Drowning in Debt

Issues:

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projected yesterday that the annual deficit will double over the next 10 years, despite recent attempts by President Obama to claim credit for reducing spending:

Behind the façade of President Obama’s shrinking deficit fueled by higher taxes is a national debt growing so fast that every child born comes into the world owing nearly $56,000. Read more about Senator Cornyn on CBO Report: Nation is Drowning in Debt

ObamaCare deems FUN a liability

You’d think in the time of ObamaCare, that protecting us from ourselves would be as outdated as platform shoes. But ObamaCare must now go into protection mode for itself.

Furthermore, as we all know, the Left will not rest until everyone in America dies of natural causes. Read more about ObamaCare deems FUN a liability

We Need to Uncap the Number of H-1B Visas

On Oct. 1, a new round of foreign H-1B guest workers will began to work in the United States. H-1B visas are for skilled workers in specialty occupations, mainly in engineering and computer occupations. H-1B visas are an important, albeit flawed, mechanism for highly skilled immigrants to enter the United States and contribute to our economy.

Only 85,000 H-1B visas are set aside for American firms to sponsor each year. The approval process begins on April 1 and the approved workers can begin working on Oct. 1. H-1B visas

Anti-Pojman Site Apparently Created by Company Linked to Empower Texans

Issues:

This story was originally published on The Quorum Report

The conservative website recently launched with the express purpose of attacking a longtime pro-life advocate has apparent links to the conservative group Empower Texans and many of the candidates the group endorses. The site takes aim at Texas Alliance for Life Executive Director Joe Pojman with the claim that he is “being used by establishment powers to cover the tracks of politicians who are weak on life.”

Republican politicians who have been in the crosshairs of Empower Texans like Rep. Bennett Ratliff and Rep. J.D. Sheffield are attacked on the site as being “pro-choice.” Read more about Anti-Pojman Site Apparently Created by Company Linked to Empower Texans

Wounded Warrior Federal Leave Act of 2014 Approved in Committee

Recently, a bill I co-authored, H.R. 5229, the Wounded Warrior Federal Leave Act of 2014, was approved by the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and will likely appear on the House Floor in November for final votes.

The bill will grant paid leave for first year federal employees who have a 30% or more service related disability. Currently, new federal employees do not have medical leave during their first year of civilian government employees.
