RedState 2013 Rocked! Part One: Ted Cruz and Defunding Obamacare “Don’t Blink”

Issues:

I was fortunate enough to join other conservative Americans from all over the country assembled at Erick Erickson’s fifth annual RedState gathering, RedState 2013 in New Orleans over the first weekend in August. Speakers included governors, senators, congressmen, candidates and a Tea Party Patriot leader. Every one of them inspired and informed.

The three most compelling takeaways:

  • US Senator from Texas Ted Cruz is the co-author of the best and probably only vehicle to bring down Obamacare, through defunding it.

Using Shock Collars as a Sensitivity Training Tool?

Issues:

In a world where freedom of choice reigns, in liberal states like New York and Washington “my body my choice” includes everything except for what one chooses to put into and come out of one’s mouth.

In New York, the Department of Education is not only slowly implementing vegetarian-only school lunches, but they’re also banning certain words from standardized tests. In Seattle, Washington, the city is advising workers that certain words be avoided in official documents and discussions. Read more about Using Shock Collars as a Sensitivity Training Tool?

Looking Out For Your Tax Dollars: House Passes My Bill to Cut Wasteful Gov't Spending

Issues:

This week was a win for anyone who wants a more responsible and accountable government.

As a part of "Stop Government Abuse Week," the House came together to pass my bill, H.R. 313, the "Government Spending Accountability (GSA) Act of 2013." I introduced the Government Spending Accountability Act after it came to light that the GSA (the very government agency charged with keeping costs low)

Why Obama Won’t Allow a Trayvon Martin Lawsuit

Issues:

All the hoopla over the Zimmerman verdict, the threat of violence, and all the other predictions that the media and the Obama administration and race-pimps ginned up, and poof…nothing. The biggest civil rights trial of the new millennium, right?

Where is Obama on claiming Trayvon Martin as another family member, a stepson, a God-son perhaps? Where is Department of Justice on filing a Civil Rights’ lawsuit against George Zimmerman? Where is the civil lawsuit that’s been threatened by Trayvon Martin’s family? Read more about Why Obama Won’t Allow a Trayvon Martin Lawsuit

The Future of Republicanism to Gather in Austin Next Week - Texas Young Republican Federation Convention Aug 9-11

Issues:

Last week, CNN asked if the "Young Republican" are "The Republicans of the Future?" Many would say that is a resounding YES! Last week, the National Federation of Young Republicans held their annual meeting in Mobile, Alabama. Next weekend (August 9-11) Texas will host its own convention of Young Republicans as the Texas Federation of Young Republicans march into Austin, Texas.

New Hampshire Young Republican Tyler Denton told CNN, "The GOP has become too much of a club that defines itself by who it's leaving out," he says.

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today announced that the Major Disaster Declaration for West, TX has been approved.

The Future of Texas is Bright as Senator Ken Paxton Announces Bid for Texas Attorney General

Issues:

Ken PaxtonThe future is brighter for Texas conservatives as Senator Ken Paxton (R-McKinney) announced his bid for Attorney General to an enthusiastic crowd of approximately 560 supporters in Plano Thursday evening. Time and time again, Paxton has proven himself to be a conservative stalwart in Texas politics. First elected in 2002, he served five terms as a State Representative before being elected to the Senate in 2012, where he was the only Senator to be given a 100% rating from Texas Eagle Forum. He has a consistent record of being recognized as one of the most conservative members of the Texas House as well, supporting legislation that promotes individual liberties and free enterprise, limits the size and scope of the state government and supports transparency at all levels of government.

Busting Myths on Government Shut Downs and Defunding Obamacare

Issues:

Limited government. Free enterprise. Lower taxes. Less spending. What do all of these things have in common? These are conservative principles, or so they say. Things that I would personally think that a Republican led Congress would exhibit. Over the past five years I have become better acquainted with the way our political system works. Republicans are seeing “Orange” – The “Other” Davis

Issues:

Many thought the rancorous debate over abortion had quieted down as the next special session presents new opportunities for disagreement on transportation projects.

Not so, says State Rep. Sarah Davis (R-Houston). Republican leadership is engaged in a full-on feud with State Representative Sarah Davis for her break with the party on new regulations of the abortion industry signed into law by Gov. Perry after a month of debate. Even after the bill in question became law, State Rep. Davis is still ruffling feathers in the Harris County GOP – writing editorials claiming that “Government has no business” regulating the abortion industry.
