Celebutante Desiree Rogers' Photo Shoot Draws Heat Inside White House

Just last year, celebutante and former White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers was all the glamor and abuzz. Even The Wall Street Journal featured her with a front page story in which Rogers refers to the president as a brand:

"We have the best brand on Earth: the Obama brand," Rogers says. "Our possibilities are endless."

Furthermore, Rogers herself is considered the key to the brand.

With her direct access to the first couple and unparalleled connections to White House staff, as well as D.C. and Chicago power brokers, Rogers is considered by many to be the key to Brand Obama.

All this prestige and glitz disappeared however, when Rogers was missing from her post as the White House crashers slipped by, prompting her to resign from her position.

A recent Politico article explains that there may be more story behind Rogers resigning from her position. Supposedly, Desiree Rogers posing for the cover page of the Wall Street Journal drew heat inside the White House:

Long before the State Dinner party crashers and the tension with her White House colleagues and the strain in her relationship with the first lady, Desirée Rogers began to understand she was in trouble when David Axelrod summoned her to his office last spring to scold her.
Ms. Rogers had appeared in another glossy magazine, posing in a White House garden in a borrowed $3,495 silk pleated dress and $110,000 diamond earrings. But if the image was jarring in a time of recession, Mr. Axelrod was as bothered by the words and her discussion of “the Obama brand” and her role in promoting it, according to people informed about the conversation.
“The president is a person, not a product,” he was said to tell her. “We shouldn’t be referring to him as a brand.”

Really? Another Photo shoot for a White House Social Secretary?! What's the obsession?
