Speaker Pelosi Re-Defines “Entrepreneurship” To Include Quitting Your Job

The following was sent in from the Republican Party of Texas:

In Case You Missed It: Late last week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi once again tried to justify the unpopular Obamacare law, arguing that it is “entrepreneurial” in spite of the fact that it raises taxes on businesses and families and is already doing damage to our health care system. Speaker Pelosi said:

“We see it as an entrepreneurial bill, a bill that says to someone, if you want to be creative and be a musician or whatever, you can leave your work, focus on your talent, your skill, your passion, your aspirations because you will have health care.”

Please consider the following as a response.

“Evidently the Democrats under the Pelosi-Obama leadership have a new motto and it’s ‘tune in, turn on and drop out,’” said Republican Party of Texas spokesman Bryan Preston. “This is the second time she has said this, so she really must think it’s an effective talking point. Whatever you want to call Obamacare – and unpopular, ill-conceived, overbearing, intrusive, and anti-freedom all come to mind – the one thing that it is not is ‘entrepreneurial.’ To argue, in a time of recession, that people should quit their jobs to play bongos because someone else will pay for their health care is just plain irresponsible and economically clueless. The last thing the Democrats need to encourage is more unemployment - their policies are encouraging enough of that already.

"We’re all for the arts, and I’m a mediocre drummer myself, but most people including me can’t make a living that way and it wouldn't be fair of me to play drums all day expecting taxpayers to pick up my health care tab. But Matt Angle's DC-run Texas Democrats keep bringing Pelosi here for fundraisers and there’s no hint of replacing her as Speaker of the House, so they must agree with her. All this shows just how clueless and out of touch today’s leftwing Democrats truly are. And this points up, one more time, the difference between common sense Texas-style governance and the fringe silliness we would get from liberal California-style governance if the Democrats ever get back to power here.”
