Internet Surveillance To Begin with "Perfect Citizen"

In case anyone missed the banner headline on Drudge today, it was recently announced that the National Security Agency will soon implement a surveillance program to monitor for and prevent cyber attacks.

According to the Wall Street Journal the program, dubbed "Perfect Citizen," will be run by the Raytheon Corporation, a Massachusetts based defense contractor. WSJ reports that Raytheon won the competitive bid for the contract which could be worth $100 million.

The surveillance by the National Security Agency, the government's chief eavesdropping agency, would rely on a set of sensors deployed in computer networks for critical infrastructure that would be triggered by unusual activity suggesting an impending cyber attack, though it wouldn't persistently monitor the whole system, these people said.

Today it's the NSA monitoring what they call "critical infrastructure"...what about tomorrow? Will the government label your home DSL network "critical infrastructure"?
