Texas Employment Update for June

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Texas dropped to 8.2 percent in June. Total non-farm employment expanded for the sixth straight time, adding 14,000 jobs for the month. This is reflected in the positive employment growth in seven of the eleven major industries: Education & Health Services; Professional & Business Services; Manufacturing; Construction; Trade, Transportation and Utilities; Mining and Logging; and Information (ordered by number of new jobs). The civilian labor force in Texas increased by 14,900 workers to reach over 12.176 million.

The chart below shows the monthly change in unemployment rates in Texas’ metropolitan statistical areas before seasonal adjustments that account for cyclical changes in the workforce.
