Abortion is Not a Health Care Issue

MARCH FOR LIFE January 22, 2009

Abortion is not a Health Care issue, abortion is the deliberate act of killing an unborn baby. But the LEFT describes abortion as a Right and a Need that every woman deserves. There are studies that show that women suffer from depression and other negative symptoms after they terminate their unborn baby. It is also being argued that there is a link between having an abortion at an early age and breast cancer. Even though we believe that we are winning the battle, there is a new surge coming. I personally heard Kate Pickert whining on MSNBC that the ‘older’ gals just won’t give up their power positions in the Pro Choice movement and that it is time for the ‘young’ activists to be in power. After all, the young activists know more about social media. These ‘young’ activists will be ruthless.

The pro-life cause has been winning the abortion war, in part, because it has pursued an organized and well-executed strategy. But public opinion is also increasingly on their side. Thanks to prenatal ultrasound and advanced neonatology, Americans now understand what a fetus looks like and that babies born as early as 24 weeks can now survive.... The pro-choice establishment has also been hampered by a generational divide within the cause. Young abortion rights activists today complain that the leaders of feminist organizations, who were in their 20s and 30s when Roe was decided, aren’t eager to pass the torch to a new generation whose activism is more nimble and Internet-based. - Kate Pickert

Furthermore, if you listen to MSNBC you learn that the conservatives are totally out of sync with Obama over abortion, same sex marriage, gun control, spending, etc. And that the Republicans really hate women, therefore, there is a War on Women, when in fact it is the LEFT that has a War on the Unborn. You might be asking why am I listening to such garbage. I am a firm believer of ‘knowing your enemy’. I also believe that many conservatives like hiding from reality, it’s a much better world if you ignore the truth. If only this were a perfect world, but listen carefully, it is NOT.

The next four years will be a test of our trust in God and our Christian faith. Everyday there is another attack on our conservative values. The attacks on the Catholic Church are relentless. These attacks are not just for Catholics but to every Christian and Jew in America. We can not let this anti-Christian abortionist win this battle.

I was present at the 36th March for Life in DC on January 22, 2009 just after the abortionist-in-chief took office. Obama signed his Executive Order to Repeal the Mexico City Policy the day after 350,000 marchers showed their support for LIFE. This was a slap in the face to every American Christian that believes that abortion is murder and immoral. I knew then that I had to do something to inform all Christians that politics do impact our conservative values. It was my hope along with millions of Americans who voted in the November presidential election that the Republican winner would ban the Mexico City Policy. But that was not to be. We have to keep the pressure and stand our ground or the abortionists will rise in power again. These abortionists know how to bully and mock in order to achieve their goals.

This statement is still on the White House website January 23, 2009:

Yesterday, President Obama rescinded the “Mexico City Policy” and released the following statement:

It is clear that the provisions of the Mexico City Policy are unnecessarily broad and unwarranted under current law, and for the past eight years, they have undermined efforts to promote safe and effective voluntary family planning in developing countries. For these reasons, it is right for us to rescind this policy and restore critical efforts to protect and empower women and promote global economic development.

By resuming funding to UNFPA, the U.S. will be joining 180 other donor nations working collaboratively to reduce poverty, improve the health of women and children, prevent HIV/AIDS and provide family planning assistance to women in 154 countries.

Mexico City Policy - Voluntary Population Planning

The Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 (22 U.S.C. 2151b(f)(1)), prohibits nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) that receive Federal funds from using those funds "to pay for the performance of abortions as a method of family planning, or to motivate or coerce any person to practice abortions." The August 1984 announcement by President Reagan of what has become known as the "Mexico City Policy" directed the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to expand this limitation and withhold USAID funds from NGOs that use non-USAID funds to engage in a wide range of activities, including providing advice, counseling, or information regarding abortion, or lobbying a foreign government to legalize or make abortion available. The Mexico City Policy was in effect from 1985 until 1993, when it was rescinded by President Clinton. President George W. Bush reinstated the policy in 2001, implementing it through conditions in USAID grant awards, and subsequently extended the policy to "voluntary population planning" assistance provided by the Department of State.

MARCH FOR LIFE FEB 13, 2009 TODAY’S CATHOLIC SAN ANTONIO, TX

This is an article I wrote when I came back from the MARCH FOR LIFE in Washington DC after Obama was inaugurated as our first black president. This event was a pivoting point in my life. I felt I had to do something to inform Catholics and all Christians how politics impact our conservative values.
