Pete Sessions Applauds Passage of 3% Withholding Tax Repeal

Today, I released the following statement in response to the House’s passage of a repeal to the 3% withholding tax set to take effect in January 2013:

Now more than ever, the American people demand and deserve for Congress to overturn government policies that hinder the ability of small businesses to thrive, invest and hire more workers. I am encouraged by the House’s action today to repeal the 3% withholding tax on businesses that provide services to federal, state and local governments. This unnecessary tax would only lead to higher prices, lower wages and more lost jobs.

House Republicans are dedicated to repealing flawed policies to enable our nation’s businesses to start hiring the 14 million unemployed Americans looking for work. Simply put, job creators can keep more money to create more jobs with the removal of this needless withholding tax. I encourage Senate Democrats to pass this common-sense legislation, as well as the 15 House-passed jobs bills, to empower job creators and ensure that future generations have the opportunity to pursue the American dream.
