Cornyn Applauds House Passage of New F-16 Sales to Taiwan
I issued the following statement after the House approved the Defense Authorization bill with a provision that mandates the Obama Administration sell at least 66 new F-16 C/D fighter aircraft to Taiwan:
Today’s result is encouraging, as this bill sends a message to nations around the world that America will not abandon our friends or our principles in the face of Chinese intimidation.
I look forward to continuing to work hand-in-hand with the Administration and the Taiwanese government as we move forward in this joint effort to ensure Taiwan has the new American-made fighter jets it needs to defend itself.
The House-passed provision, authored by U.S. Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX), is based on legislation authored by Sen. Cornyn in the Senate.
