CPAC Speaker Condemns CPAC For Allowing GOProud, Booed Off Stage

At the 2010 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) today, there was a segment to recognize student conservative activists. When Ryan Sobra of the California Young Americans for Freedom organization went up to speak, instead of giving the speech he was scheduled to give, he decided to publicly denounce CPAC for allowing the gay conservative group GOProud to attend.

"Just to change the subject for just a second, Id like to condemn CPAC for bringing GOPride (sic) to this event," he said. The audience then erupted into a loud boo. Watch the video of the entire exchange below:

When Thomas Jefferson created the Republican party it was after he pushed for a separation of church and state, but here we are 220 years later letting religion corrupt the core value of our party. I mean no offense to Christians, but to those who are against homosexual people, this is your opinion and hatred, not my party's value. My party's values are low taxes ... all of them,  but Coolidge comes to mind 90 years ago, individual freedoms for everyone,,,, as Abraham Lincoln proclaimed 140 years ago, to protect our natural environment.... as Theodore Roosevelt prescribed 110 years ago, to slim down government and to make it more efficient.... as all of them have tried to do; to strengthen and protect our country through open diplomacy (Nixon) or force if needed; and once again and most of all civil rights for every American born in this great country... all of them but Ike comes to mind. 
Through this country's great history Republicans have lead the way and will continue to do so with or without you, and I am sorry if this offends you but our Constitution trumps your bible. As was stated at the onset of the United States "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" 
All means all.

I was in attendance.  Most of the people there were booing him because of his un-professionalism.  He was supposed to give a 2 minute speech about campus activism, and instead he ranted for 2 minutes about gay marriage.  I talked with many people after the whole incident, and most people who were booing did so because they thought he was being inconsiderate to the other panel members who spoke about their campus activism during their 2 minute period.  Sorba was booing during much of McCobin's speech, interrupting him, etc..  There were many people booing - most of whom were not Young Americans for Liberty members.  YAL as an organization doesn't even take a stance on marriage.  

Way to further the divide.  There are PLENTY of gay people that would stand united with us on more important conservative issues.  It is time for the conservative movement to embrace their homosexual brothers and sisters in hopes of strengthening our base against the oppression of Obama and his cronies.
Let's face it, hate crime laws, same sex marriage, etc. will not hurt us.  Even if homosexuality is a sin, it is God and God alone that will make that final judgment.  
United We Stand.  Divided We Fall.  Let's take our country back.

GOProud stands for gays only. I'm straight. I don't want my taxes to increase to support gay and polygamous marriages nationwide. Taxed Enough Already means stop foreign spending first. They don't stand for me.
This is all propoganda straight from After the Ball, the 1990 book that talked about how "gay Republicans will blow people's minds!" uh, see, I read, so I'm not buying into it.
The same book talks about getting the APA in their pocket with money.
Well played, but it's pure nonsense.

More federal money has gone towards finding a "cure" for AIDS than into research for every other fatal disease COMBINED over the last 20 years. And we still have no cure for AIDS, unless you count taking 20 pills each day for life a "cure". Google "AIDS: a glamorous multi-billion dollar intustry". That's 20 years of forced Conservative financial support for gay activity, so I think the Repubs have more than paid their dues to gays and now we are all feeling a financial pinch.
Supporting GOProud means offering more revenue to them to continue to engage in the risky AIDS-contracting behavior with the government's financial blessing; not exactly my definition of "small government" no.
