Democrats’ Focus on Kavanaugh Documents Evidence They’re Out of Ideas

Today at a press conference, U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) discussed Democrats’ attempts to stall Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation. Excerpts of Sen. Cornyn’s remarks are below, and video can be found here.

I’m glad that Sen. Schumer and other Democrats are meeting with the nominee, and I trust that they will find him the way I found him, as a highly qualified person of good character and somebody imminently qualified to be a member of the Supreme Court. Unfortunately, this has devolved into a question of how much paper is being produced.

The Judiciary Committee has produced 258,000 pages of documents, and we’re on our way, I would guess, to somewhere in the million-page range before it’s over with. But the reason why we’re talking about the ‘Great Paper Chase’ is because I think our Democratic colleagues have found out all of their other attempts to undermine or to criticize this nominee have fallen flat, and so now it’s just a question of how much paper is going to be produced.

In the end, we will each have all of the information any one of us need to be able to evaluate the qualifications and experience of this nominee.
