Jason Villalba: Welcome to the Capitol Report

The 84th Session of the Texas Legislature is heating up. I was assigned to two very important committees by the Speaker of the House. I will be sitting on the Economic Development and Business and Industry committees; both of which are critically important to the the growth of Texas and expansion of Texas' economy.

I am hard at work on legislation that is important to you and your families:

Vaccinations
I know how important it is to make sure that your children are safe while attending public schools. In order for me to ensure the safety of my children and your children, I am proposing a bill that will eliminate vaccination exemptions (not including medical, religious and military) that exempt children from getting the important vaccinations that protect the health of our citizens.

Straight-Ticketing Voting
I filed a bill that provides that straight-ticket party balloting would no longer apply to non-policy making elected offices such as judges, district attorney and sheriffs. This bill will ensure that our judges and district attorneys will be elected based on their ability and skills rather than their party affiliation.

On Thursday, February 19th, Texas State Representative I will host two town hall forums in House District 114. The first will take place at the Town North YMCA and the second will take place at the Lake Highlands YMCA. I will discuss the 84th Legislative Session and will answer constituent questions.
