Pete Sessions Statement on June Unemployment Report

Today, I released the following statement in response to the Department of Labor’s report that the unemployment rate remained at 8.2% in June:

Today’s jobs report underscores the need for pro-growth policies to help struggling Americans get back to work. The threat of higher taxes, more government spending and bureaucratic red-tape has injected uncertainty into our economy and hindered much-needed job growth. To make matters worse, the President’s health care tax will make it even more difficult for small businesses to hire in the Obama economy.

House Republicans remain deeply concerned about chronic unemployment across America and will continue to make job creation our top priority. We have passed over 30 bills from our Plan for America’s Job Creators to empower small businesses and entrepreneurs, and next week we will vote to fully repeal the damaging health care law. I urge Washington Democrats and the President to join our efforts to get Americans working again and ensure a brighter future for generations to come.
