Cornyn Urges Caution Ahead of Tropical Storm Harvey

Today on KTSA’s “The Jack Riccardi Show” I urged Texans in the potential path of Tropical Storm Harvey to take caution and listen to warnings from local emergency management personnel. Earlier today, I spoke with Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Brock Long, and Nim Kidd, Chief of the Texas Division of Emergency Management, to receive an update on preparations. I also launched a page on my website with emergency preparedness information and resources for Texans.

I talked to the FEMA Director earlier to make sure we were latched up at the state and federal level, and I’m comfortable that we are. But I would just urge all of your listeners to listen to people like the Emergency Management Office at the Governor’s office in Austin and other public safety officials, and heed their warning…this is a serious matter.

Chief Kidd, the Texas Emergency Management head, has told me they feel very comfortable that all of the federal authorities, including the National Guard and FEMA, are working hand in glove with them, and they feel like they’re in a good place. But we’re bracing for a big storm.

Please pay attention to the warnings and take heed and take action.
