Don't let Mayor Parker Take Away Your Right to Bathroom Privacy!

In your home, would you build a bathroom with full length clear, ceiling-to-floor windows where anyone visiting in your home would have a full view of your bathroom facilities? So that when you take a shower, you would be displaying yourself to all the visitors in your home?

"That's ridiculous," you might say. Bathrooms are purposefully made for privacy; we only allow our most intimate family members to see us in our most vulnerable moments. We would never consider allowing strangers into our bathrooms to see us or our children when changing clothes or showering. Yet Mayor Parker and the Houston City Council are advocating just that; they have enacted the H.E.R.O. or "bathroom" ordinance (as it is commonly known) that will allow men and boys to enter and use the facilities of women’s bathrooms, showers, and locker rooms whenever they so desire. Here is the ballot language for this ordinance as it will appear on the ballot during this fall’s election:

“Proposition 1: [Relating to the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance.] Are you in favor of the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance, Ord. No. 2014-530, which prohibits discrimination in city employment and city services, city contracts, public accommodations, private employment, and housing based on an individual’s sex, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, familial status, marital status, military status, religion, disability, sexual orientation, genetic information, gender identity, or pregnancy?”

Under the guise of being against "discrimination", and claiming to be in favor of "equality", in an attempt to make the voters of Houston believe that if this ordinance fails to pass, those groups listed in the ordinance will somehow lose the civil rights that for decades have been guaranteed by federal and state legislation. It is a sad sign of the times that our elected leaders think so little of Houston’s women (upon whom they would attempt to perpetrate this fraud) and carelessly place the women and girls of Houston in potential danger.

Allowing men and boys into women's restrooms, showers and locker rooms is a disaster waiting to happen; should we not prevent potential abuse when it is in our power to do so? Do we want to take a chance on sacrificing the purity and innocence of our little girls in order to satisfy the twisted desires of immoral individuals who claim to be "confused" by their gender? Everyone supports equal rights, but not if they involve indecency! Keep opposite genders out of each other's bathrooms, showers and locker rooms! This is not equality; it is simply perversion!

Prevent potential abuse by telling Mayor Parker that you will: Vote NO on Proposition One when you vote during early voting, starting on October 19, or when you vote on Election Day, November third.
