University of Cop-Killer Apologist Cites John Wayne: She Stays

Officials from the university of cop-killer apologist Monica Foy responded quickly to calls from across the state about the school’s student who said that Harris County Deputy Sheriff Darren Goforth deserved to be executed. The university, known for its highly recognized criminal justice programs does not appear to be taking the situation lightly, but also will not be sending her packing at this time.

Sam Houston State University (SHSU) President Dana G. Hoyt appeared to be disgusted by the comments made by Monica Foy on Twitter. Foy was also arrested on Wednesday for an outstanding warrant relating to a charge of assault with bodily injury. Foy posted on Twitter, in reference to Harris County Deputy Sheriff Darren Goforth, “I can’t believe so many people care about a dead cop and NO ONE has thought to ask what he did to deserve it. He had creepy perv eyes…”

Hoyt opened her letter of response by saying that her father was a police officer. She then quoted the American icon John Wayne’s comments about Jane Fonda made during the Vietnam era. “I’ve known Jane Fonda since she was a little girl,” Wayne began. “I’ve never agreed with a word she’s said, but would give my life defending her right to say it.” She echoed that statement and praised those in uniform who choose to protect us, “regardless of personal views or preferences.”

In her letter (attached in its entirety below), Hoyt says:

Yesterday, an individual chose to make an insensitive and inflammatory remark that insulted the memory of Officer Goforth and his fellow men and women who serve in law enforcement. It was absolutely unacceptable behavior.

Those who would do harm, whether by word or deed, should and will pay the consequences through lawful means. In the case of Ms. Foy, she shared her remarks publically and the public has undeniably rebuked this deplorable action. She will have to live with the repercussions of her choice. It is my sincere hope that Ms. Foy will come to understand the hurt she has caused, learn from it and make the necessary changes to become a person who embraces the values we hold dear at Sam Houston State University.

Let me be very clear, her student affiliation should in no way be the basis for judging a university that has put serving others and bettering the community first and foremost for well over a century. As evidenced by the overwhelming response from our Bearkat family, the callous remarks made by Ms. Foy on her personal Twitter account are not a reflection of the values held by Sam Houston State University, our graduates, the employees, or the 20,000 students attending this institution. We are neither accountable nor responsible for the personal actions of this individual.

President Hoyt expressed her grattitude for the support of the University’s honor from alumni who have contacted the school. Later in the statement she concluded, “Ms. Foy’s comments were reckless but we cannot respond in kind. Words are powerful, but rather than continuing to engage in a dialogue that only draws more attention to her words and further disgraces the memory of Officer Goforth, it’s time to come together and show unified and unprecedented support for our law enforcement with positive and constructive action.”

SHSU initially responded to her abhorrent tweet with a Facebook post that also showed the University’s strong support for law enforcement:

The individual opinion of a student does not reflect the beliefs of Sam Houston State University or its 20,000 other…

Prior to the president’s letter being published, Breitbart Texas reached out to SHSU’s associate director of communications and public information officer, Julia May for comment. “We are still in the very early stages of investigating this matter and how the University should proceed,” May said. She indicated they have received strong input from alumni of the University’s criminal justice school.

One example of this came in a comment on the SHSU Facebook page. “I’m a proud alum yet am sickened this individual attends Sam,” Nick Greek wrote. “I have faith the university will do the right thing. This had to breach the student code of conduct/ethics.”

Others were quick to join in on the comments to these posts, condemning Foy for her actions and showing support for law enforcement.

“’The measure of a life is its service.’ This young woman is doing her fellow students a disservice by portraying us in this light,” wrote Savannah Rae Files. I hope that the university takes this matter seriously, and understands how her actions and words reflect upon us all despite their disclaimer.”

Tracie Wankowicz posted, “She needs to be expelled. She’s part of the “no consequences” generation. She needs to learn there ARE consequences to all of our actions.”

Christina Jackson added, “I am a US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam conflict. I currently serve with the Vietnam Veterans of America. Also, I am the mother of 3 LEOs in Texas– a daughter and 2 sons. For this student to promote murder of Texas LEOs is unconscionable. It is time for SHSU and America to support LEOs against this kind of “HATE” speech.”

Nearly 750 others joined in the online conversation in the two SHSU posts above.

Breitbart Texas has reported extensively about the anti-cop and anti-white rhetoric that has emerged from the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Earlier today, reports of vandals spray painting images of what could only be taken as a warning to police officers had popped up around the Houston area.

The man accused of shooting Deputy Goforth, Shannon Miles, appeared in court in Houston on Monday morning surrounded by a dozen deputies, as reported by Breitbart Texas. Miles has been charged with capital murder of a peace officer. The felony charge can include the death penalty.

Breitbart Texas reported that funeral services for Deputy Darren Goforth has been set for Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. The mega-church is the fifth largest in the country and can accommodate thousands of people.
