Comal County Commissioner Precinct 1 Race

Garrison Maurer is challenging the incumbent, Donna Eccleston, for Comal County Commissioner in Precinct 1. I will admit that I supported Eccleston in getting elected, but as time has gone by she has proven to be a big disappointment. Constituents in Precinct 1 lack a voice in Commissioners Court and Garrison is the perfect person to build the bridge between the people of Precinct 1 and the court. His down-home personality lends itself to easy conversation without any pretense and tension. One of the best things about Garrison is the fact that he graduated from Smithson Valley High School and knows the people he will be serving.

I first met Garrison at a Republican Club of Comal County meeting. He was young, inquisitive and interested in getting involved. He served our club for two years as the vice president and through his efforts invited some very motivating speakers so the members could be better informed on different issues. He has assisted the 106 Precinct Chair as an election clerk in the last several elections. He was extremely involved in supporting Senator Donna Campbell in putting up her large campaign signs and driving her to various campaign stops, affirming his dependability.

He has also served as a firefighter and EMT, so he well understands their requirements. Garrison will work to make sure that the appointments to the ESD Boards will be open and transparent.

Garrison says that as the future Precinct 1 commissioner:

  1. I will improve communications from Commissioners court to excel what is expected as your county commissioner.
  2. Every person that wishes to volunteer or serve on a committee and/or county board will be given the opportunity.
  3. I will drive every single road in precinct 1 on quarterly basis to insure roads are kept up, as well as to visit with citizens.
  4. I will work for your concerns to make Comal County the best place to live and visit in the state of Texas.

Garrison says he is blessed to have his family. He is married to Satoko and together they have four children Alissa, David, Luke and Lily Anna who was born February 13 just in time for Valentine’s Day. Garrison is the owner of Comal Towing a 24/7 10 year old successful towing company that provides services to Sheriff's departments in Comal, Hays, and Blanco counties. He also provides towing for police departments in New Braunfels, Bulverde, San Marcos and Kyle. Comal Towing employs five drivers so that he can offer these services and still have time for his community endeavors.

On a personal note, I believe he has a huge heart and a willingness to serve. When my husband was ill in the hospital and I needed help, he was there for us. No one has to tell me what kind of character he has as we have experienced his kindheartedness first hand. Precinct 1 residents deserve a commissioner who really understands what has to be accomplished. Unfortunately, the present commissioner has failed to address the current situations that exist in our precinct. Just drive on Rebecca Creek Road off FM311 to the new Rebecca Creek Bridge and see what happens when there is a lack of interest to property owners.

Maurer is running a very positive campaign and not only will Precinct 1 benefit from his fresh ideas but all of Comal County should welcome his vision for the future. As property landowners in precinct 1, Bill and I strongly recommend Garrison for Comal County Commissioner Precinct 1.
