Congressman Neugebauer Statement on Speaker Boehner

Today I released the following statement in response to House Speaker John Boehner’s retirement announcement:

First and foremost, I want to thank Speaker Boehner for his service to our county and our Republican Conference. In his long career in Congress, which culminated in him serving as Speaker of the House, he represented his constituents with honor and dedication. As Speaker, he loved this nation and always fought for what he believed was right.

Like Speaker Boehner, I understand the desire to spend more time with family and friends. After serving many years together in Congress, Dana and I wish John and Debbie Boehner the best as they embark on their next steps in life.

As a Conference, we now must unite in the selection of a new Speaker. If we work together, we can all achieve our common goal of making America a stronger and better place today, tomorrow and for the future.
