Liberals and the art of semantic gymnastics

In the tradition of, “It depends what the meaning of ‘is’ is,” Hillary Clinton remains under fire for her private email, and rightfully so. But the spin has been incredible.

Does anyone remember when it emerged that EPA administrator Lisa Jackson had sent 12,000 work emails under the alias, “Richard Windsor” (a pseudonym combining her dog’s name and hometown)? That’s a no-no, as it helps the sender to circumvent any pesky Freedom of Information Act requests that might arise. Of course, you can’t help it if your hard drive crashes and there are no backups, right, Lois Lerner?

However, AP had this to say:

She refuses to turn over all of her work-related private email messages to the government — acting as if she has the right to decide what public information she chooses to share with the public.

Her hostility to openness includes stonewalling The Associated Press for five years on its request for basic information about her schedule, information that is routinely available from other Cabinet members.

AP also has been denied access to documents explaining the mystery of why Huma Abedin, one of Clinton’s top aides, was allowed to simultaneously work as a paid consultant in the private sector.

I think Hillary Clinton better get on some comfortable shoes, if she thinks she can run from this.
