Local Elections Are Coming Your Way

I always talk about local elections and the importance of making your voices heard. School board elections, college system trustee elections and city council elections are ones that I often think of when I think local. As luck would have it, there are some of these aforementioned positions on YOUR ballot this November 7th.

I serve on the Local Government Committee for the Harris County Republican Party (HCRP) and we as a committee undertook a project in an effort to help identify Democrats in these races and turn out Republican voters. You can find the report on what we found here. Based on those findings, we as a party made endorsements in some of those races.

Some of them, we weren't able to make endorsements due to the fact that based on the primary voting history, there appeared to be more than one Republican in those races. One race I'd like to highlight in particular was one for HISD Board of Trustees in District 5. Sean Cheben is a stand out in a crowded field of candidates. I was really disappointed that we weren't able to endorse him as a party, but I am personally endorsing him, and I would like to encourage you to take a look at his campaign. Even if you don't live in his district and can't vote for him, there are ways to help him out.

There are ways to help all of the candidates individually AND through the HCRP.

Check out the this link for dates for phone banks and block walks. It's these small races that we can often times make the most difference in!
