SB4 Lawsuit and Ron Nirenberg Dangerous to San Antonio, TX

San Antonio entered the battle on June 1 when Mayor Ivy Taylor was out voted on her protest of suing over the Sanctuary City SB4. Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, MALDEF, filed a lawsuit in federal court against the state of Texas along with Governor Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton. Plaintiffs included three non-profit organizations: Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education, La Union Del Pueblo Entero and the Workers Defense Project.

It seems that SB4 has brought out the worst in people, especially those that don’t seem to connect criminal behavior with the illegals entering our nation and Texas. Doesn’t it make sense that law enforcement officers should inquire about immigration status of anyone they arrest for a criminal offense?  Shouldn’t illegal persons who commit crimes be subject to deportation?

Incumbent Mayor Taylor, campaigning for reelection, objected to the lawsuit along with councilmen from Districts 9, Joe Krier, and 10, Mike Gallagher, who each strongly opposed it.  The lawsuit is not only ‘premature’ as Mayor Taylor says but the unintended consequences could be devastating to the city. Mayor Taylor commented to the Express News that, “Before putting San Antonio taxpayers on the hook for a … legal battle such as this, we should be certain that litigation is the measure of last resort and that the city is bearing its fair share of any legal burden.”  Krier was quoted in the same Express News article, “We are spending tax dollars on this lawsuit.  If they tell you MALDEF is picking up the tab then show me the bake sales and car washes raising money for City Attorney Andy Segovia’s salary. We have city attorneys who are working on this lawsuit, and they will be paid out of your tax dollars.”

District 8 councilman Ron Nirenberg is challenging Mayor Taylor and believes that SB4 is bad legislation and strongly supports the lawsuit.   Just how scary is Nirenberg?  Plenty scary!  As much as the San Antonio Police Chief and the rest of the ‘progressives’ scream that all is well, Nirenberg in his 32 page ‘Manifesto’ confesses that:

“The San Antonio area continues to lead in categories like drunk driving, domestic violence, and child abuse while homelessness persists, property crime is up, and violent crime is at its highest levels since the mid-1990s, when our City was known as the “drive-by capital of the world.”  SB4 would certainly curb the illegal criminal activity by undocumented individuals.

He goes on admitting that, “teen pregnancy and diabetes along with rising rates of mental illness are impacting families and the community at large.”  He fails to mention the crisis in HIV cases in San Antonio.

Remember, he is driven by ‘socialism’ in the belief that everyone should be equal.  His ‘Manifesto’ states:  We must end San Antonio’s losing streak on domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, births without prenatal care, homelessness and income disparity.  Now these are very scary words.   As Mayor, he says, “ I will:  Bring together area schools, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and health care providers to create an agenda to improve family wellness, tackle domestic violence, and address related issues.”  This sure sounds like a Planned Parenthood center at every low income neighborhood corner.  How will he take care of income disparity when he wants to bring a modern, multimodal transportation system that benefits locals, regional commuters, and trade?   Who will pay?   “My transportation agenda will be ambitious”, he writes.  San Antonians have turned down the light-rail system in the past.   Like everything the ‘progressives’ do, it is clouded in truth and lies.

Nirenberg is a former director of Annenberg Public Policy Center in Pennsylvania.  The name Annenberg should immediately send a chill up and down your spine.   Walter Hubert Annenberg passed away in 2002 and left behind a legacy of philanthropy and art collections.  It is estimated that he contributed $2 billion to education and the arts.

Needless to say money attracts vultures and Bill Ayers was one of the three authors asking for an Annenberg Challenge grant. At this time Ayers was associate Professor of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago.  The group won $42 million to create the Chicago Annenberg Challenge.  Barack Obama became one of the founding Board of Directors of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge in 1995 together with Raymond Romero former Midwest regional director of MALDEF, Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund.

Ayers led The Weather Underground Organization an anti-Vietnam war terror group intent in destroying America and its way of life.  He believed that America was the most violent country in existence.  Their ideology and goal was the destruction of US imperialism and the achievement of a classless world:  world communism.  WUO was responsible for several bombings at the US Capitol building, Pentagon, NYPD Headquarters and a San Francisco police station.   Instead of jail time he became a professor.

These are the socialists Nirenberg believes in:   Obama and Julian Castro, who is working with him to achieve a victory in San Antonio.   We all know that equality and diversity are part of the socialistic chant and the empty words oftransparency and accountability go along with enticing people to vote for them.

Remember MALDEF?  Yes, it’s the same group that sat on the board of directors (Romero) with Obama in 1995.  The city is so enthralled in the liberal agenda it will take time to turn it around.  But it is possible IF you vote for the conservative candidates.  San Antonio is the largest city in Texas suing because of SB4.  The projected population for 2017 of Bexar County is 1,953,028 with521,539 Anglo and 1,196,125 Hispanic.  Blacks make up a small part of the population at 135,907 and 99,457 other.

Governor Abbot released this statement:

“It’s inexcusable to release individuals from jail that have been charged with heinous crimes like sexual assault against minors, domestic violence and robbery. There are deadly consequences to not enforcing the law, and Texas has now become a state where those practices are not tolerated. With this bill we are doing away with those that seek to promote lawlessness in Texas.”

As part of the legislation, entities and officials that do not comply with the law could face the following penalties:

A civil penalty for entities in violation of the law of up to $25,500 for each day of the violation.

A class A misdemeanor for a sheriff, chief of police, or constable who fails to comply with federal immigration detainer requests

Removal from office for any elected or appointed official who does not comply with the law.

It would be wise to adhere to SB4, the bill signed by Governor Greg Abbott on May 7.  The bill will be in effect on September 1, 2017.  Remember to vote Ivy on June 10.  San Antonians don’t need a socialist in charge!
