Catholic Church Embroiled in the Illegal Immigrants' Plight

The illegal immigration issue is now boiling over in the United States of America and especially in states that border Mexico. While no one wants to 'rip' a child from their mother's arms, no one should 'rip' an unborn from the mother's womb either.

The photograph on the TIME magazine cover is a big lie and caused emotional hysteria. It was photo-shopped and the father of the toddler was interviewed and exposed the lie that they were never separated from the child. You wouldn't know that hearing all the propaganda from the Left and the mainstream media. More Fake News that travels faster than a speeding bullet.

What is happening today is the politicization of certain issues like abortion and immigration in our churches. Even the homilies in church are being politicized. When did abortion become a political issue in the Catholic Church? It has always been and will forever be a moral issue. It will always be non-negotiable. Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. This statement is taken from the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Abortion stops a beating heart when the tiny body of the unborn baby is ripped from the mother's womb. That is absolute murder. The slaughtering of the unborn by Planned Parenthood the largest killing industry in the world has become big business. The Democratic Party and PP are partners in this and they each profit from this atrocity.

Unfortunately there seems to be a merging of the slaughtering of the unborn, which is always a moral issue, with the situation of the separation of the illegal children at the border. Immigration is a negotiable issue. And yes, it becomes a moral issue when people are murdered and or used in sex trafficking but by itself immigration is negotiable. Don't kid yourselves, this illegal border child issue is being used by those desiring to undermine the United States president. Those that do not want the present administration to succeed in 'Making America great again'.

Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants' duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens. This is also taken directly from the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

The current children arriving from Central America are exposed to a multitude of risks on their journey to the United States which include rape and sex trafficking. Many of the children are sick, dehydrated and malnourished given their long journey and need attention. The US gives these children the attention they need. But because the liberals are screaming that it is cruel to take the children away from parents who crossed over illegally and in spite of the fact that these children are being cared for, President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order to keep the families together but did not remove the 'Zero Tolerance' that the Open Borders individuals want. It seems that President Trump is not credited for acting quickly to remedy this situation.

It is unfortunate that Congress’s failure to act and court orders have put the Administration in the position of separating alien families to effectively enforce the law.

Most certainly we have a crisis with the illegals entering our country and ignorance does breed chaos. I have heard two homilies in the last two weeks on the illegal children and, yes, as Christians we should not separate the children from the parents and we should welcome the stranger who enters legally. By the same token, the Church has a moralistic responsibility to advise those wanting to enter the US about the risks they take by allowing the 'coyotes' to bring children and women across illegally. The dangers are evident: rape, disease and being sold as sex slaves. It is also unsafe to travel with possible drug dealers who care only about their 'package'. Texas is second to California in sex trafficking. Paying the 'coyotes' to bring an unaccompanied child is equivalent to 'tempting the devil'. Reading the headlines of the MSM, you know it is not uncommon for the 'coyotes' to fill a hot non-ventilated van with 10-20 illegals and not even provide water. Often times, this jeopardizes their lives and ends in the deaths of some of these unfortunate individuals.

C.O.P.S. Metro is again playing an integral part in Church leadership in San Antonio. On June 18, 2018 C.O.P. S Metro met at Our Lady of the Lake with Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller as the key speaker. This was the most intense gathering to engage in the immigrant's situation using the tentacle and tactics of Saul Alinsky. These are excerpts taken from an article I wrote in 2013, Saul Alinsky and his connection to San Antonio,Texas.

The Good Government League controlled San Antonio from about 1955 – 1975. It was only the North Side of San Antonio that reaped the benefits of economic growth while the West and South Sides of town were ignored. According to Robert Vasques’ article, ‘The COPS Revolution’ he explained that “in effect city officials were stealing from the poor West and South Side neighborhoods to provide funds for developers in the affluent North Side suburbs.”

Given all these circumstances the sleepy town named San Antonio was ripe for an awakening. So during the time the GGL was up to its sordid games, Communities Organized for Public Service was doing just that, organizing. C.O.P.S. organized early in 1974 and the Catholic Church played a big part in its inception and success.

When C.O.P.S. was first conceived, it was a vision for economic change and helping the poor Mexican worker but the unintended consequences are morally decaying San Antonio. Today C.O.P.S. is heavily tied to the Democrat Party. Some priests in San Antonio and surrounding areas support C.O.P.S. Because the Catholic Church has given life and refuge to C.O.P.S. in the past, entrenchment of the Democrat Party exists.

Archbishop Gustavo is partnering with C.O.P.S. Metro and he seems perfectly at ease in directing C.O.P.S. to assist in the illegal immigrant situation at the border. In a fiery and passionate 6 minute speech in favor of the illegal immigrants on June 18, 2018, he was able to get his message to those in the audience of mostly nuns, other priests and Hispanics.

The Archbishop's message was clear:

We live....We live in very challenging times. Basic institutions of justice are being attacked. Our social fabric is being torn by demagogues and there is an increasing division and polarization. There is a tendency to view everything through a political partisan lens. Chaos is the result. People are suffering needlessly. This is a time of crisis. We have to make a decision do we go along or challenge these trends? The problems we face in our community and our nation can only be overcome and solved by coming together to collaborate as neighbors. Indeed, as sisters and brothers, children of the one God.

That trite and harmful rhetoric distort the truth, the facts of our situation. So that demands mutual respect and trust. It requires all of us to acknowledge the dignity and value of every human life. A mutual trust means that we have to be firmly committed to seeking and telling the truth. We need to speak truth to power. APPLAUSE

In 1971 the first Catholic World Synod of Bishops met in Rome and declared that Social justice is a constitutive element of proclaiming the gospel. That means that Social justice Is central in following Christ Jesus and the values of the gospel. The Catholic Social teaching derives from the bible. Those who view everything through a political lens often tell priests, and ministers and Rabbis and sisters and Imams to stay out of politics when they enter the pulpit. For a person of faith, it is impossible to proclaim the word of God without including what the bible says on virtually every page about social justice. APPLAUSE

Jesus came to proclaim the kingdom of God a place of justice and peace, mercy and compassion harmony and unity love of God and neighbor. (Not audible... the bible yes it is.)

The kingdom of God is already among us but not yet fully established. Whenever we find people working to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, welcome the stranger, clothe the naked, care for the sick, or visit the imprisoned, we encounter the Kingdom of God. In Mathew, chapter 25, Jesus tells his disciples that this will be the main criteria at the last judgment. Did we do these things or did we not? Our eternal reward or punishment is at stake. What could be clearer? I would like to say that the situations today are escalating. We are seeing less and less respect for the human dignity. The separation of families is immoral, is evil, is sinful. APPLAUSE!

To use children...children as pawns to deter people from coming is inhuman and shows the decadence that we are in our country. And only people like we are with many more people moving or to have a voice and to show that the dignity of the human person is at the center of our social justice movement. I command the work of COPS METRO and urge you to recommit yourselves to this endeavor and to reclaim the authentic vision and values of this great country that is in danger of losing its soul today.

Working together we can built a better community a more just society a place where mothers and fathers can raise their family in security and safety. We can do this....we can !!! APPLAUSE! ...APPLAUSE!!

“Mothers and fathers can raise their families in security and safety” if they live in the US and are US Citizens this is true most of the time and this is exactly why we have the Rule of Law to protect US citizens. It is the responsibility of our government to protect its citizens and its borders. In his speech addressing the “dignity and value of every human life' the archbishop failed to mention the slaughtering of the unborn in the mother's womb.

“To use children...children as pawns to deter people from coming is inhuman and shows the decadence that we are in our country.” Using children as pawns is a tactic used by the Democratic Party. They can slaughter the unborn in the womb but scream about children being taken from parents at the border. Regardless of the reason, unaccompanied children were given up by their parents before they started their journey. All of the children are being cared for in a humane way and will be reunited with their parent or parents as President Trump described in his executive order.

Cards were passed out to attendees at the June 18, meeting and at the Cesar Chavez mass to send to Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz concerning the children at the border and a path to citizenship for Dreamers. I do not recall any instance where cards were printed to send to the abortion voting Texas Congressmen Beto O'Rourke, Joaquin Castro, Sheila Jackson Lee, Henry Cuellar, Al Green, Lloyd Doggett, Eddie Bernice Johnson, Gene Green, Vincente Gonzalez, Marc Veasey, and Filemon Vela, jr. and asking them to vote for life. We should question why not?

It is ironic that on July 1, Archbishop Gustavo held a special mass at the San Fernando Cathedral paying homage to the efforts of American born icon Cesar Chavez on behalf of the farm workers. It is important to know that Chavez fought for better pay and working conditions for the migrant worker and was strongly opposed to illegals taking their jobs.

Chavez testified in a Senate hearing in 1979 and is quoted as saying, “For so many years we have been involved in agricultural strikes; organizing almost 30 years as a worker, as an organizer, and as president of the union-and for all these almost 30 years it is apparent that when the farm workers strike and their strike is successful, the employers go to Mexico and have unlimited, unrestricted use of illegal alien strikebreakers to break the strike. And, for over 30 years, the Immigration and Naturalization Service has looked the other way and assisted in the strikebreaking.” Digital History.uh.edu

It's time Cesar Chavez is seen as the anti-illegal activist that he was.

In attendance at the Cesar Chavez mass was none other than former HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros who welcomed the progressive Ron Nirenberg as San Antonio Mayor, former City Councilwoman Mary Alice Cisneros and Congressman Joaquin Castro, all Democrats and all abortion and same-sex proponents. How does this even happen in a Catholic Church to allow those advocating abortion to judge the illegal immigrants situation?

Questions arise when I see those that not only believe but vote that abortion is a woman's choice, a woman's right occupying the front pew in a Catholic Church. Why didn't the archbishop address this intrinsic evil since he had the perfect audience? This is truly politicization of our Catholic worship.

Open Borders should NEVER happen, the situation with the unaccompanied children is a disgrace, a shame and America should not have to be the parent and then be sued and denigrated for taking charge. Those asking for asylum should be verified before being allowed into our country. And asylum should be granted to those needing our protection from inhumane countries like Honduras. The Catholic Church in Texas should take care that we do not become another California. Texans have always been open to 'strangers' but these are difficult times that require serious vetting to keep the US citizen safe.

President Trump has addressed the situation of keeping the families together in his Executive Order, so it is interesting that there seems to be no acknowledgment of that fact from those protesting. This does make one wonder about the political facts that are presented to Archbishop Gustavo. Lastly, with Socialism biting at our heels, we don't want to become another Third World country because if that were to happen, who could we help?
