Houston Mayoral Election 2009

The Houston Mayoral Election is just around the corner, and it is critical that the Houstonian constituents get out there and vote! The election will be held on November 3, to elect Democratic incumbent Mayor Bill White’s successor. This year’s election includes one Republican and three Democrats and is the first time a Republican has run for Houston Mayor since 2003. The Democrats want Texas and Republicans must keep it! Houston is the fourth largest city in the USA and the largest in the south. Houston and Harris County are key to winning Texas. So get out there and support the GOP!

Update: Gene Locke and Annise Parker received the majority of the votes and had a run-off election December 12. Annise Parker won the election against Gene Locke and will take Bill White's spot as the next Mayor of Houston.

Houston Mayor Run-off Results: Annise Parker Wins

The results from the run-off election for Houston Mayor are in:

99% precincts reporting:

Gene Locke: 70,631 votes- 46%

Annise Parker: 81,652 votes- 54%

Houston is now the largest city to have an openly gay mayor.
