The Texas Democrats gathered in Corpus Christi recently for their state convention, and while I attended the Republican Party of Texas convention in Dallas early last month, I figured I should educate myself and listen to what the other party had to say.  Read more »

I noted that these folks are trying to distance themselves from Washington and Obama. They never mentioned Obama nor did I see any stickers or propaganda about that at all!! Neither Linda Chavez Thompson or any other down ballot candidates spoke Friday.  Read more »

Despite recent gains in GDP and a 77-percent rise in the stock market, the prospect of a full economic resurgence remains tarnished by the fact that 44.1 percent of the 15 million unemployed Americans has been without a job for 27 weeks or more. This is the highest it’s been for this figure since the Great Depression, indicating that this recovery may be dramatically different from the others of recent decades.  Read more »

Former Ambassador Tom Shieffer announced Monday that he is quitting the race for the Democratic nominee of Texas Governor. The attention then shifted to Houston Mayor Bill White, whom for the past few years, Democrats have been asking whether he will run for governor of Texas.  Read more »
