Illegals in America by Obama

Who exactly is to blame for the current surge in Central Americans crossing the southern border? There are the obvious reasons: violence and poverty in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. According to an article in the Express News, “In Honduras, violence drives an exodus” by Aaron Nelsen, human life is not a valued commodity, and the people are looking for a way out of this vicious environment.

In an effort to halt the flow of aliens from Central America, the US has launched a media campaign warning families that they are risking the lives of their loved ones by taking the journey to our southern border. Videos, billboards and public service announcements are being distributed in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. The inscription on the video reads, “I thought that it would be easy for my son to receive papers in America, but it wasn’t true.” The Honduran government is also explaining the perils they take by hiring coyotes who will exploit the innocent youths.

Then there is the old standby ‘It’s Bush’s fault’. Former president GW Bush signed into law the H.R. 7311 (110th): William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 just before he left office. HR 7311 was supposed to curve the human trafficking problem that is so prevalent in the world today. It was a bipartisan bill that everyone agreed would help the sex trafficking situation with children as their main objective. This bill also gave much needed protections to unaccompanied alien children who were not from Mexico and Canada by extending their stay in the US.

Subtitle A--Ensuring Availability of Possible Witnesses and Informants

Sec. 201. Protecting trafficking victims against retaliation.

Sec. 202. Protections for domestic workers and other nonimmigrants.

Sec. 203. Protections, remedies, and limitations on issuance for A-3 and G-5 visas.

Sec. 204. Relief for certain victims pending actions on petitions and applications for relief.

Sec. 205. Expansion of authority to permit continued presence in the United States.

Subtitle B--Assistance for Trafficking Victims

Sec. 211. Assistance for certain nonimmigrant status applicants.

Sec. 212. Interim assistance for children.

Sec. 213. Ensuring assistance for all victims of trafficking in persons.

Then there are the rumors that ‘permiso’ will be given to those arriving in this country. How these rumors got started, we can only guess but we do have a president who is determined to ‘transform’ every aspect of our laws. Obama’s failure to secure our borders and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals has led to this crisis. Obama is asking congress for $3.7 billion to combat the border surge of Central Americans crossing into our country. This money will be spent to speed up the process and still give the ‘illegals’ ‘due process’ as outlined in HR 7311. The money will also be used to house some of them until their court date. By giving the people crossing illegally ‘due process’, a determination can then be made as to their status, refugees or deportation.

The chart clearly shows that the border crisis stemming from Central America must be stopped. With over 52,000 aliens already here this situation will not end in the next few days or even months. It will take a persistent congress to see that the rule of law concerning deportation is accomplished. It is apparent that the immigration laws that exist today are not working.
