In the 1960’s, America was “Californian Dreaming”, but today California resembles more of a banana republic than a healthy state economically. As the more productive citizens move on to more fertile ground, the decline of the state continues. Joel Kotkin, in an article for the Daily Beast observed, “Barack Obama learned the rough sport of politics in Chicago, but his domestic policies have been shaped by California’s progressive creed. As the Golden State crumbles, its troubles point to those America may confront in a second Obama term.” If California is our future, then we are doomed as a nation.   Read more »

Someone sent a message via my Facebook page in which he noted something a friend had told him:

Demand creates jobs. How do we increase demand? We provide assistance where needed to create economic activity where the private sector won’t. We INVEST it in our infrastructure instead of throwing it away in tax

I released the following statement regarding the passage of the Small Business Tax Cut Act of 2012, legislation that would provide a 20% tax deduction for small businesses with fewer than 500 employees:

Small businesses are the engine of American job creation, and their success is critical to our nation’s much-needed recovery in the Obama economy. In a sharp contrast from the Administration’s push to raise taxes on hardworking Americans with gimmicks like the ‘Buffett Rule,’ House Republicans voted today to provide tax relief for small businesses so they can grow their capital, invest and hire more workers.   Read more »

This past week, I participated in the Cain's Solutions Revolution on the Hill. Cain’s goal was to reunite the Tea Party leaders, grassroots activists of his campaign, and create a new Army of David’s to pound the street for free market reforms. Cain’s solution is an outreach of the Cain’s presidency, and while the focus of the Cain’s solution is his tax plan 9-9-9;

Charter schools were presented as a way to have more parental control of public school education. Charter schools are financed by local taxpayers plus federal grants. Charter schools are able to hire and fire teachers, administrators and staff to avoid control by bureaucrats and the teachers’ unions. There are some good charter schools, but loose controls have allowed a very different kind of school to emerge.

A path has been opened for foreigners to run schools at taxpayers’ expense, without much news coverage.

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) is a political committee devoted to maintaining and increasing the 239-member Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The media, driven by the Democratic left, has been nearly saturated with the administration’s call for the tax system to be more “fair”. Their clarion call of course, is that bazillionaires like George Soros (D), Al Gore (D), Michael Bloomberg (D), Bill and Melinda Gates (Ds), Nancy Pelosi (D), Mark Zuckerberg (D), Warren Buffet (D), David and Charles Koch (Rs), should pay more of their “fair share” of taxes. Tax the Rich (Rs)! However, that same media and Democratic hard left conveniently leaves out critical definitions of just what “fair” is and what tax rates would achieve this presumed fairness.   Read more »

HOUSTON — In advance of Tax Day, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, today announced the introduction of comprehensive legislation to assist small business owners and taxpayers in cutting through IRS red tape. Sen. Cornyn’s Small Business Taxpayer Bill of Rights Act of 2012 would lower compliance burdens for taxpayers, strengthen taxpayer protections, compensate taxpayers for IRS abuses, and improve taxpayer access to the tax court.   Read more »
