Giving Thanks to the Military

This past week, families and friends in our community joined together to observe a season of thanks. Each year, I enjoy the opportunity to highlight military heroes from the 32nd Congressional District who have selflessly sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy as Americans. I am extremely grateful for their invaluable contributions to our nation and their dedication to American prosperity and safety.

Alexander Seguin USMA ’96, Rachel Seguin USMA ’99, Joseph Seguin USMA ‘02 and Gregory Seguin USMA ’08

Kenneth Seguin retired from the United States Air Force as a Colonel in 2009, but that wasn’t the end of military service for his family. Four of his children – Alexander, Rachel, Joseph and Gregory – chose to serve in the army after attending West Point. Their brother, Jefferson, is USAF Captain who earned his commission as an officer through AFROTC at Louisiana Tech and is currently deployed to Afghanistan for six months.

Although Alexander did not deploy to a combat theater during his Army Service, he served on two six-month tours to Iraq in his position as a civilian Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. Rachel was stationed in Germany as her overseas tour. Joseph, who I had the pleasure of nominating to West Point in 2008, served in Alaska. Gregory was deployed one year in Saudi Arabia.

Capt. Daniela Lozano, USAFA ’04, Capt. Joel Lozano USAFA ’06, and Lt. Benaiah Lozano USAFA ’09

With a mother who served in the United States Air Force, Capt. Daniela Lozano, Capt. Joel Lozano and Lt. Benaiah Lozano have followed in her footsteps to serve our nation.
