Proposition 1 is not a Republican vs Democrat issue. It is not a Conservative vs Liberal issue. It is an issue about what is good public policy for the City of Houston for the next (at least) forty years. In this radio ad which started on the air today, Council Members Jolanda Jones, C. O. Bradford, Wanda Adams and Jarvis Johnson joined with the "Tax Man" Paul Bettencourt to express opposition to Proposition 1 because it is a poorly conceived program with little if any protection for taxpayers who are already stretched too thin financially.
This "Rain Tax" will negatively affect every homeowner, business, church, school, hospital and other charity in the City of Houston causing some people to pay this tax multiple times through their churches and schools. Read more »

The scholarship imbroglio which has surrounded the Johnson campaign has been reported quite thoroughly by the Dallas Morning News – except for shocking oversights and omissions which the DMN could have remedied simply by consulting its own archives. Doing so would have quickly revealed that Congresswoman Johnson’s shameful exploitation of the Congressional Black Caucus’s scholarship program is but one instance in a pattern, several decades old, of the Congresswoman treating the powers and privileges of public office as private resources to be manipulated for personal gain and aggrandizement.Read more »

Since October 12th, the race for the 27th Congressional District of Texas between South Texas legend Solomon Oritz and Radio Talk Show Host, Blake Farenthold, has slipped from Safe Democrat to Leaning Democrat to now, Too Close To Call according to information released yesterday by Real Clear Politics.
The move in the standings comes as no surprise to the campaign staff of Blake Farenthold, who like many Republican candidates across Texas, have been working the streets hard. Doing the months and months of ground work to now look like "an overnight success". Read more »
WATCH pastor's retort after Houston Proposition 1 big spending promoter says "YOUR CHURCHES WILL FAIL"!
"You can't do indirectly what the law says you can't do directly" by calling this new TAX a FEE! That's what one moral and law-abiding pastor respectfully retorts (VIDEO) after "Renew Houston" and Proposition 1 special interest promoter Bob Jones proclaimed, "... your churches will fail" if Proposition 1 is not passed. The attendees didn't buy it and instead blew the whistle on more special interest spending at the recent Houston Pastors luncheon addressing Proposition 1. Mr. Jones, co-founder of civil engineer law firm Jones & Carter, tried to persuade pastors their "churches would fail" if massive new fee-and-spend scheme "Proposition 1" doesn't pass on Tuesday, Nov. 2 at the polls. Bob Jones substituted for City Councilman Stephen Costello, a civil engineer and promoter of the proposed fee, spending and government expansion of Renew Houston.
Early voting across Texas has closed with record numbers of voters (for a non-presidential election) taking the option to vote early. In Houston over 450,000 voted early or by mail. It is estimated that over 65% of the total vote for this election cycle may have already been cast. Read more »
