HOUSTON, TX. - True The Vote (TTV), the nonpartisan election integrity organization, announced a new initiative, Voto Honesto, to help educate and empower the Latino voting community with veteran organizer, Adryana Boyne of VOCES Action.

“We could not be happier with Adryana Boyne officially joining our cause for election integrity,” True The Vote President, Catherine Engelbrecht said. “Adryana has dedicated her life to empowering Latinos across the nation. Utilizing her expertise and influence was the logical next step for True The Vote in our mission to promote free and fair elections for all.”

Engelbrecht continued: “It’s unfortunate to witness widespread attempts to demagogue the greater election integrity movement along ethnic lines. The facts are clear – voter fraud is a serious issue within the Latino community. Too often do we hear of intimidation, coercion and bribery of new voters. It isn’t surprising to learn that 71 percent of Latinos support voter ID requirements, according to PEW Research. Voto Honesto 2012 will certainly help increase support for the measure.”

“Latino voters should play an integral part in ensuring election integrity this year,” Voto Honesto spokesperson Adryana Boyne said. “Our top priority in the weeks ahead is to help train thousands of poll watchers and translators. Latinos can no longer afford to simply be a voting bloc that politicians fight over. Voto Honesto will help stop fraud and intimidation in our community.Voter Integrity it is important to ALL Americans.”

VOTO HONESTO INITIATIVES

• Mobilize and train volunteers who are willing to work in elections as election monitors.
• Aggressively pursuing voter fraud and ensuring appropriate prosecution.
• Provide a support system for volunteers that include online training, quick reference guides, telephone assistance systems and best practices with respect to polling place security.
• Perform voter roll research and maintenance functions.
