WASHINGTON — In light of the vital role that our nation’s intelligence community played in gathering intelligence to end the reign of terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden, U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) today led 34 of his Republican colleagues in sending a letter to President Obama urging him end the U.S. Department of Justice’s unwarranted investigations of CIA interrogators whose cases had been formally closed after thorough consideration by career federal prosecutors.

In the aftermath of 9/11, President Bush promised a fearful, grieving nation that those individuals responsible for this atrocity would be brought to justice. Now, nearly a decade after those horrific attacks, President Obama informs us that justice has finally been served.

Let this serve as a grave reminder to all those who wish to do our nation harm: If you murder Americans, you will be hunted, you will be found and you will be brought to justice.

Justice has met evil. Osama bin Laden’s death marks the triumph of freedom over unspeakable violence, hate, and tyranny. Osama bin Laden will remain in the ash heap of history as a world terrorist who could not escape the relentless justice of the United States.
