Conservative Texas Speaker - Who would the Tea Party Pick?

While across the country there may be some debate about whether voters were voting FOR Republicans or AGAINST Democrats, one thing is clear in Texas. Texans want Conservative leadership and they have given the Republican Party an overwhelming majority to work with. This, of course, creates a question. Who should lead the Conservative movement in the Texas House?  Speaker Joe Straus would like to keep his job. Warren Chisum has thrown his hat in the ring. But neither of these men can be tagged with a label of being a champion of the principles that were campaigned on by the candidates and voters of Texas in this election. So, this begs the question, who would the Tea Party pick?   Read more »

Are the Democrats trying to control redistricting in Texas?

[Editor note: Joe Straus came to power as Texas House Speaker by lining up the infamous “gang of eleven” mostly Rino GOP members who then picked him as their Speaker, and then cut a legislative deal with the Democrats in the Texas House (the minority) to unite with the gang of eleven to vote Straus in. There are only 6 of the gang left, including Straus. A higher percentage of them were defeated than even the Democrats.   Read more »

Feeding Frenzy, The Speaker's Race

I’m sure by now your email and perhaps even your voice mail has been hit with messaging calling for the ouster of Texas Speaker of the House Joe Straus. Since I too have received those messages as well as a number of others asking my opinion and guidance, I’ll add my thoughts to the mix.   Read more »

Joe Straus, Reestablishing Conservatism

The past week I have received a barrage of emails, phone calls and news updates indicating of a released letter by "conservatives" asking for more conservative leadership for our Speaker of the House position. Fair enough, we should always aim to push forward the conservative cause. I know what conservative means, but something in this letter has led to me to believe that our "conservative leaders" have again lost their way.

Tomball State Rep. Debbie Riddle Camps Out at the Capital - First to the gate with 6 bills targeting illegal immigrants in Texas

Tomball State Representative Debbie Riddle literally camped out in Austin to get her bill posted and numbered first.  This is following up on a campaign promise to her constituents.  She posted several bills. For the purpose of this posting, I will discuss the six bills which touch on the topic of illegal immigrants in living and working in Texas. The reason for the "camp out" was to give her bills the symbolic "low number" on the bills.  The first 15 bill numbers are reserved for the Speaker to assign to bills he or she feels are important.

TEXAS HOUSE GETTING READY TO RUMBLE

There should not be any doubt that TEXAS is RED after November 2nd! Not since after the Civil War have we had so many Republicans in the Texas House. Texans came out and sent a clear and loud message not only to the Obama Administration but to all Americans that we know how to stand up for what we believe in.

Divide and Conquer

AND IF A HOUSE IS DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF, THAT HOUSE CANNOT STAND. - MARK 3:25 NKJV

Now that the Tea-Party-enhanced GOP has firm control of the U.S. House of Representatives and overwhelming control of the Texas House, it has a golden—perhaps once in a lifetime opportunity—to significantly change the way things are done in both Washington and Austin.   Read more »
