Let the IRS do your taxes for you? Talk about one camel's nose that should not be allowed under the tent!

Matt Lewis is reporting today at "The Daily Caller" that the new Congressional "super committee" tasked at reducing the deficit has come up with a new way to save the government money. Let the IRS file your tax return for you! HOW SCARY IS THAT???

Apparently there is something called a "tax gap" at the IRS. This represents the difference between what you think you owe the government and what the IRS thinks you owe the government. The "tax gap" amounts to nearly $345 Billion!

The committee's recommendation is that instead of the IRS sending you blank tax forms, they send you an already filled out return for you to just verify and sign. Isn't that just lovely? Talk about letting the fox in the hen house...

President Obama apparently floated this idea while he was still a lowly senator from Illinois. In a 2007 speech to the Tax Policy Institute, Obama said, "The government already collects wage and bank account information, so there's no reason the IRS can't send Americans pre-filled tax forms to verify." Of course our big government in chief president would think that...

And then, of course, if you add in the new feature of the IRS in the ObamaCare law that allows the IRS to directly debit your bank account for insurance premiums, I guess we could just let them take out the owed tax from our bank account without our permission as well.

So... What do you think? Should we let the IRS fill out our tax returns for us? Surely you would trust a $15 federal union employee to get your taxes deductions correct... Right? Who needs that over-priced CPA or tax service when the government can just do it for you...

Which reminds me... Did I tell you about my recent experience at the Post Office where it took me two trips and 45 minutes to pick up a certified letter? Well this is just great... I can go to one place now to pick up my letter, get my physical exam and tonsils taken out, and then have my taxes done all at one easy stop...

What WILL the government think of next?
