I hope you are enjoying the holiday week.

As I celebrate Thanksgiving surrounded by my family and friends, I am reminded how blessed we Texans are -- Texas' independent spirit provides us the freedom needed to grow and the confidence to succeed.

But the freedom that fuels our success wouldn’t be possible without the protection of the world’s greatest military. As recent attacks have reminded us, this way of life is not free, but is a result of the sacrifices and service of the brave men and women who risk their lives for our country. This Thanksgiving, I hope you’re able to spend a wonderful day with those you love, and that you’ll join me in expressing our gratitude and thanks to all who can’t be with their loved ones today.
