Abuse of Power

Democrats’ attacks on the First Amendment continue with a gaggle of 17 attorneys general from 15 states, the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands who call themselves “AGs United for Clean Power.” Their intent is to potentially prosecute “corporations and other organizations that have knowingly deceived the American people about the risks of climate change. “Hans A. von Spakovsky, in ,“Prosecuting Climate Change ‘Deniers’ is an Abuse of Power, “correctly labels them “AGs United to Silence Dissent. This push ….to prosecute climate change deniers is a fundamental violation of the First Amendment. This should terrify scientists and anyone who engages in debate over scientific issues.” Exxon Mobil and Washington think tank Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) are their first targets. This “inquisition” of Exxon Mobile and (CEI) as Hans von Sapkovsky correctly describes it, is a preview of coming attractions.

Continued Democrat Assaults

A previous barrage in June 2014, saw 44 Senate Democrats support a constitutional amendment that would give Congress unbounded power to regulate or prohibit any speech concerning an election or candidate for office. Josh Blackman in the “American Thinker” article “Democrats Are Trying to Rewrite the First Amendment” stated the following: “Trumping ( no pun intended) the cherished ten words, “Congress shall make no law …abridging the freedom of speech”, the amendment would make the Constitution read, ”Congress shall have power to regulate the raising and spending of money and in –kind equivalents with respect to Federal elections.” This amendment would overturn the Supreme Court decisions Citizens United v Federal Election Commission from 2010 and the McCutcheon v FEC ruling. They both rescinded limits on campaign contributions.

Ted Cruz Answers Call to Arms

Senator Cruz correctly called the poorly written, dangerous Democrat would-be 28th Amendment simply wrong. No politician should be immune from criticism. “Congress has too much power already – it should never have the power to silence citizens.” In typical Cruz candor he stated, “Still, it’s a reflection of today’s Democratic disrespect for free speech that an attempt would even be made.”

Timeless Jefferson Value

Thomas Jefferson‘s message of September 23 , 1800, to Benjamin Rush is as crucial to our freedoms today as it was over 200 years ago when he penned,“ for I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man .” If we are going to preserve and protect this basic fundamental right we need a President whose core values are in congruence with Jefferson’s instructive statement. If not, he will bend like a willow in the first gale force winds preceding the Democrat Perfect Storm. Donald Trump’s business acumen and negotiating skills are beyond rebuke. Without knowledge though, it soon will be evident that “the emperor has no clothes.” Give Donald Trump credit for knowing what he knows and what he does not know. He rarely speaks of the Constitution.

Importance of Justice Antonin Scalia’s Successor

This onslaught from the left will not be defeated without a true Constitutional Conservative to succeed Justice Antonin Scalia. Heidi Cruz revealed why Ted Cruz was so dominant in the debates and although she did not say it, why Donald Trump will not debate him. In addition to being a great debater, he thoroughly knows the subjects and policies that were the subject of the debates. The depth of knowledge needed to beat back this aggression goes much deeper than the charade of the debates. Senator Cruz’s experience make him uniquely qualified to nominate Justice Antonin Scalia’s all important successor:

I) As Texas Solicitor General he argued nine cases in front of the Supreme Court and has filed more than 80 briefs in Supreme Court cases.

II) As Texas Solicitor General he had responsibility for over 700 attorneys. In the landmark Second Amendment case of District of Columbia vs Heller, Cruz assembled a coalition of 31 states guaranteeing an individual the right to keep and bear arms.

III) Defended the Ten Commandments monument on Texas State Capitol grounds, winning the case in the Supreme Court.

IV) Successfully defended a cross commemorating veterans in the Mojave Desert.

V) Senator Cruz knows the most respected conservative Constitutional attorneys and judges in the country and, as President, he will nominate only proven Constructional law abiding judges.

Reverence for Our Founding Documents

Senator Cruz’s reverence for our founding documents was evident at the age of 13 when he was part of a group that memorized the Declaration of Independence and recited it to local civic groups. The “self-evident truths, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” are not negotiable.
