Stabbing Near UT Campus Leaves Two Injured

Police in Austin, Texas, responded to a report of a man with a knife near the University of Texas campus. At least one person was stabbed and a second person was injured with an undisclosed injury.

About 1 p.m. on Monday a man driving in his car was stabbed in the neck by a passenger in the back seat of the vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, KXAN reported. Another person was injured, but it is not clear if that person was stabbed or injured in some other way. He was also transported to the hospital.

Police are searching for the suspect who is reported to be a friend of the couple in the car. It appears there was some kind of argument and the driver stopped his car near the UT campus to continue the argument before being stabbed. Other than location, it doesn’t appear the stabbing has anything to do with the university. The people involved are reportedly not students.

Police are reported to be looking for a black male, 30-years-old, who is described as being of a large build and about 290 pounds. The man was wearing a blue tank top, grey shorts, dreads and a do-rag.

The Austin American-Statesman reported the driver was stabbed multiple times, according to EMS officials. He was reportedly conscious and breathing on his own during treatment at the scene.

KVUE reported the university sent a letter out to the UT students advising them the parties involved were known to each other and not a part of the UT community.

The incident comes just over six weeks since the body of a female freshman student was found, Breitbart News reported. A quick investigation led to the arrest of a suspect in 18-year-old Haruka Weiser’s murder. Meechail Criner was charged with the dance student’s murder.
