Obama, Take A Lesson From the Mayor of Midland, TX!
A recent CNBC study named Texas the top state for doing business. CNBC's Power Lunch dug in a little deeper by interviewing the mayor of Midland, Texas, Wes Perry. Midland's unemployment rate is 4.67%, while the national unemployment rate is hovering just under 10%.
Mayor Perry says this has a lot to do with Midland's entrepreneurial spirit and "we can do it ourselves" attitude. He also explains that Midland is very self-sufficient and does not rely on federal government money. Mayor Wes Perry gives a message to the struggling nation: Take responsibility. If your community is struggling, turn to foundations, nonprofit organizations, and churches - don't rely on handouts from the federal government!
