Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act Passes

As a strong supporter of life, I had the opportunity to continue the fight for the lives of innocent unborn children last week when I voted for H.R. 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

Science has proven that unborn children of 20 weeks are capable of feeling pain. Unfortunately, thousands of these babies are killed each year in late-term abortions. H.R. 36 restricts abortions after 20 weeks by establishing criminal penalties for any person who performs or attempts an abortion on a fetus after 20 weeks.

The United States is one of only seven countries worldwide which allows elective abortions 20 weeks post-fertilization.

The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act passed the House 237 to 189. It is my hope and prayer that the Senate will promptly pass this bill and the president will sign it into law.
