Stop Planned Parenthood Coalition continues to Fight the Abortionists with Sidewalk Ministry

Stop Planned Parenthood Coalition of San Antonio hosted a protest against Planned Parenthood on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in front of the Marriott Rivercenter hotel at the corner of Bowie and Commerce Street in downtown San Antonio. Planned Parenthood held their annual fundraiser with Tim Gunn as their main speaker drawing pro-abortion individuals to attend. In fact, the Planned Parenthood website boasts on Gunn’s ability to ‘influence’ and make the world a better place for the ‘vulnerable’.

“Mr. Gunn was selected to speak because of the very noble and constructive way he has chosen to use his influence to make the world kinder, more tolerant and better for those who are vulnerable.”

Again Planned Parenthood forgets that it is the unborn that have no voice; it is the unborn that are targeted to be killed, and it is the unborn that are totally defenseless. Planned Parenthood tries to justify their existence by claiming that they provide sex education, and “‘foster’ sexual and reproductive health and rights of individuals, families, and communities.” They also “help ‘prevent’ approximately 516,000 unintended pregnancies each year.” How do they ‘prevent’ unintended pregnancies per year? These statements are taken straight from their website. The latest 990 form indicates that they are an “advocacy in reproductive health services.” The 2013 - 2014 Annual Reports states clearly that 327,653 abortions were performed. The Financial Report for the period ending June 30, 2014 shows that the total liabilities and net assets for PP are $367,254,551. Sickening isn’t it.

Approximately 1000 people were asked to contribute toward the $6.5 million necessary to complete the Zone C1 facility at 2140 Babcock. It is estimated that only $400,000 was raised to ‘kill’ the unborn.

Patrick Von Dohlen, President of San Antonio Family Association, welcomed the pro-lifers braving the cold windy weather. He said, “Elective abortion damages a woman for her entire life, emotionally, physically and spiritually.” He also said that the Marriott hotel receives tax abatements and tax subsidies provided by the taxpayer. Every day that the facility at 2140 Babcock does not open, saves the lives of 11.2 babies per day and it is the pro-lifers on the sidewalk that are responsible.

Invited guest speaker, Brad Wheeler left his ministry as a preacher in the Baptist community temporarily to study law and become an attorney. He began his address to the Pro-Lifers on the sidewalk by asking, “How is it that we have become a nation that has aborted 57 million children? How is it that so-called ‘respectable’ people and those in power and influence are gathered in the building behind us to raise funds for the shedding of innocent blood? How is it that many in our culture freely place the label of ‘unwanted’ on children? How is it that the remedy for children so labeled, is legalized murder?”

Yes, how is it?

We don’t have to look further than the world around us. America grows more and more secular with each passing day and with secularism comes apathy. The indifference by the majority of citizens in San Antonio has to be broken by continued awareness of the intrinsic evil of ‘killing’ the unborn. Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller is making an effort to reach over 700,000 members of the Roman Catholic Church in the San Antonio archdiocese. On March 2, 2015 he released the following letter.

Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller
Archbishop speaks for the unborn during the "40 Days for Life"

Excerpt:

I am deeply troubled by Planned Parenthood’s San Antonio abortion center, the largest abortion facility in South Texas, and the building of the Alamo Women’s Reproductive Services facility, as well as any abortion center built at any time and in any location. This great city, named for St. Anthony, built upon the legacy of the Old Spanish Missions, and nourished by the faith of her people must not become known as the abortion center of South Texas. This would be a betrayal of the values that built San Antonio. I strongly encourage our city leaders to only make exceptions and exemptions in implementing and interpreting our laws in ways that will strengthen our support for the dignity of all human life, and the common good. It is their responsibility to preserve the fundamental liberties that define us, the first of these being the right to life. I also ask all people who share these values to join me in prayer for those who fight to protect all human life.

For those who pray before abortion clinics, who speak out for life, or who witness to the rights of all human beings: that God might strengthen and guide them; We pray to the Lord.

How can the ‘ordinary’ Catholic and Christian help? Participate in the sidewalk ministry, speak to your parish priest or pastor to engage in this effort, forward this article to all your relatives, friends and neighbors, support Pro-Life businesses or attend a fundraiser on March 30, 2015 at the Tri-Point Center 3233 N St Mary’s Street, San Antonio, Texas. Please RSVP for Gratuitous Admission 210 928 7232.
