Scriptures: "Worn Arguments and Old Attitudes" ... According to Obama

President Obama declared the month of June to be LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered) Pride month. In a speech he gave at the LGBT Pride Month reception held at the White House on June 29, he called himself their "friend, ally, champion and President who fights with them and for them." Here are just a few of the comments he made during that speech:

There are unjust laws to overturn and unfair practices to stop. And though we've made progress, there are still fellow citizens, perhaps neighbors or even family members and loved ones, who still hold fast to worn arguments and old attitudes; who fail to see your families like their families; and who would deny you the rights that most Americans take for granted...

...I suspect that by the time this administration is over, I think you guys will have pretty good feelings about the Obama administration...

...I've called on Congress to repeal the so-called Defense of Marriage Act to help end discrimination to help end discrimination against same-sex couples in this country...My administration is also working hard to pass an employee non-discrimination bill and hate crimes bill, and we're making progress on both fronts...

...And finally, I want to say a word about "don't ask, don't tell." As I said before - I'll say it again - I believe "don't ask, don't tell" doesn't contribute to our national security. In fact, I believe preventing patriotic Americans from serving their country weakens our national security...

Romans 1 is clear about the consequences of the sin of homosexuality. When a person chooses this lifestyle there is ultimately an unavoidable slide into complete depravity. Romans 1:29-30 says specifically that those who engage in this type of sin are "filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, and evil...They are haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil. They are without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving and unmerciful."

If we neglect to stand up against this our society will continue to decline and our culture will become increasingly characterized by those attributes. We are truly fighting moral decay in the truest sense of the word. We can't afford to be silent or our children, grandchildren and future generations will pay the price.

The prophet Isaiah describes what is happening in our culture: "Justice is turned back and righteousness stands far away; for truth has stumbled in the street...truth is lacking, and he who turns aside from evil himself becomes prey." (Isaiah 59:14-15)

Obama's criticism of those who refuse to object to his attempts to normalize what God clearly calls wrong, punctuates the Biblical truth: we have become the prey of those who embrace it. They will not tolerate the fact that we speak the truth: homosexuality is a sin with dire consequences.

Isaiah 3:9 leaves little doubt as to God's position on the subject: The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves. Our President may mean well, but he is taking unprecedented steps toward calamity. During his campaign he repeatedly reminded his audiences that he believed marriage was between a man and a woman. Now he is pledging to work toward the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act, a bipartisan piece of legislation that prevents states that prohibit same-sex marriages from being forced to recognize same-sex marriages from other states. DOMA is the only defense that states that have to assure them that their own Constitutional Amendments defining marriage are rendered meaningless.

We cannot become discouraged, intimidated or weary in our well-doing. The greatest kindness we can extend to homosexuals is to present them with truth in love. To fail to do so is cowardice and self love. God calls each and every one of us to be more than conquerors through Him! Every opportunity to speak out against sin stares evil in the face and boldly declares our confidence in the fact that our position is the one that will ultimately bring freedom and victory over the enemy who seeks to destroy our nation, freedom and individual lives.
