Congressmen to Visit Southwest Border

I will join a group of Members of Congress, led by House Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX), on a visit to the southwest border from January 22nd to January 26th. We will examine the evolving national security threats to the Homeland; security at our southwest border; best practices to secure land and sea borders; technology currently deployed at the border; and analyze and assess inter-governmental integration and cooperation to secure the U.S. border with critical components including the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense. We will travel to San Diego, California, Tucson and Sierra Vista, Arizona, and McAllen, Texas.

Our porous border continues to threaten the security of individuals and families in Texas, the southwest region, and the entire nation. While the President continues to ignore this crisis, I will join my colleagues on the ground to tour critical areas of the southwest border and see first-hand how we can best achieve security and defeat any threats to the Homeland.
