Statement By Texas House Speaker Joe Straus On Epa Action And Job Losses
Texas House Speaker Joe Straus (R-San Antonio) commented on the reported loss of jobs caused by the EPA’s new cross-state air pollution rule (CSAPR):
"Instead of adopting a more balanced approach by easing the regulatory burden on states and businesses, the Obama Administration has taken a step backwards," said Speaker Straus. "The EPA's cross-state air pollution rule has cost 500 Texans their jobs and will jeopardize our state's electric grid reliability."
"Texas generators and businesses deserve a predictable regulatory environment, and a realistic timeline to comply with these new rules. This is the wrong policy at the worst possible time, and I fully support the State's petition requesting the EPA to reconsider its adoption of the CSAPR."
