You are here2012 Texas GOP ConventionThe “Rule of Law” As It Pertains the Enforcement of Immigration Laws
The “Rule of Law” has been the rallying cry of those who are most critical of the Immigration policy as reflected in the 2012 Platform of the Republican Party of Texas. One critic stated, “Our immigration laws must be respected and enforced.” I agree with that statement. However, as an attorney with over twenty-two years of experience (with nine years as a state prosecutor and over two years as a federal immigration and drug prosecutor), I believe that the federal government Posted under:
My Personal Journey To Tampa Bay, Florida The National Convention
This is my personal journey to the Republican National Convention in Tampa Bay, Florida, August 27 – 31, 2012. It is my perspective and is meant only to describe what actions were taken by me and the circumstances taken to achieve my goal. It did occur to me to go to the National Convention in 2008 as a volunteer, but it was just a passing thought. The delegates in 2008 experienced the exhilarating announcement of Sarah Palin as our vice president and, truthfully, I want to be present when Mitt Romney announces his choice for vice president. The Good And The Not So Good And The Fun At The Texas State Convention
While I have to agree that the state convention was a great success, it was not without incident. There were many winners and losers as Delegates campaigned for different positions in their Senate and Congressional Districts making for some tense situations. Posted under:

RPT 2012: Are we united or divided?
While there were many highlights to this convention, such as meeting great candidates for office and the adoption of “The Texas Solution,” a practical concept for immigration reform that many TexasGOPVote bloggers have been advocates of for years, something was missing. Read more » Posted under:
Texas Is The Future - Texas State Convention
Governor Rick Perry addressed the Texas delegation on the first day of the convention Thursday, June 7. As usual his speech was motivational and geared to ‘Keep Texas Republican.’ He enumerated accomplishments from the past and looks to the future of Texas as a leader. “We need a president who believes in us again,” he remarked. It was an inspiring speech but somewhere towards the middle as he endorsed Lt Gov David Dewhurst, the mere mention of that name brought a spontaneous BOO! The grating BOO engulfed the arena taking 15 seconds to die down. Posted under:

Can Someone Have the “Right” to the Fruits of Your Labor?
A bold, fresh and potentially game-changing Platform resolution was unanimously passed this week by the Texas GOP. This weekend in Ft. Worth, Texas, (“Where the West Begins”), 31 members of the State GOP Platform Posted under:

Since the 2012 Republican Party of Texas Convention ended almost two weeks ago, there has been a lot of misinformation being spread about what the 2012 Platform (and especially the Immigration Plank) really says and what has been taken out. It is my hope that I can set the record straight about what happened on the Platform Committee and why it happened.

Last weekend, I joined many other proud Texas Republicans in traveling up to Fort Worth, Texas to take part in the largest political convention in the country.
Texas Speaker of the House Joe Straus had to play some dirty tricks at the State Convention in order to keep from being humiliated by the silent walkout that was planned against him. He wrongly used fellow State Reps as pawns and shields. Joe Straus did not leave the Convention without humiliation though, because Straus was rejected from being a National Delegate!
[Editor’s note: Mark Ramsey was a member of the State GOP Platform committee in 2010 and 2012, and was also elected to the State Republican Executive Committee from Senate District 7 (SREC SD7), Senator Dan Patrick’s district.]
The Republican Party of Texas made, what many are calling, an historic step forward in the debate to solve our nation's broken immigration system last Friday night when it adopted "
