Border Security and Immigration Reform - Two Separate Issues that Must be Linked
The truth is, and we must acknowledge this, the border between the U.S. and Mexico is more secure now than it has ever been. One of the few good things the Obama Administration has done is to increase security along the border. Posted under:

An Immigration Policy Solution
My name is Norman E. Adams. Texans for Sensible Immigration Policy is a coalition formed to offer a “sensible” solution to our immigration problem. It is clear that border security and immigration reform are two separate issues. Yet the two must be linked together as we try to develop a responsible solution to both of these problems facing our nation. Today, in Houston, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is visiting to make a speech about border security and the job her department is doing. It is interesting that she chose Houston as the place to deliver this. Texans have been hammering her about border security from the day she took office.
When Texas voted in this last election, no one did an exit poll; perhaps because it would have shown that Latinos voted for the Democrats in larger numbers than we Republicans wanted to acknowledge. The fear that Texas is turning purple is of great concern for Republicans and should be the epiphany that forces the GOP to look fear in the face: those irreversible changing demographics in Texas. It is no longer sufficient to run a candidate with a Latino surname and think
The number is unclear, but it appears that there are about 11 Million undocumented immigrants living in the U.S. Of them, 70% are Latinos. It is further unclear as to how many of them became undocumented, and to many it is irrelevant as many in the public insist on using terms to “group” them all into a pool of lawbreakers who are undeserving of any type of consideration for remaining in the U.S.
My name is Norman E. Adams.
Words are strong and can persuade. They can create division or they can unite. Words can hurt or they can heal. It is the rhetoric that will drive Latinos away from the GOP, many contend. What many journalists and bloggers, and other people scream about is what is not being said regarding Latinos. And it matters. The Liberals state that GOP Presidential candidates cannot count on the Latino vote because of the rhetoric that has instilled fear in the Latino community.
