South Texas Politics - State Rep Jose Aliseda Endorses Adela Garza for US Congress District 34

State Rep Jose AlisedaAs part of exploring South Texas Politics, I had the opportunity to visit with outgoing District 43 Texas State Rep. Jose Aliseda in Beeville just before the Bee County Republican Round-Up. Aliseda is a great public servant. He has served the people of Bee County as County Attorney and County Judge. He has also served the people of Texas as a State Representative and a member of the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. As he is running unopposed, he will also serve Bee County next year as the new District Attorney.

All this to say, it is no small thing that this servant of the people has endorsed Adela Garza in her race to be the first Congressional Representative for the newly created 34th Congressional District. In the video interview below,

Illegal Immigration (Part One) - The Tide is Moving Out

This begins a series of articles where I will explore issues of illegal immigration and its economic, political and social impact on our nation.  In this segment we will look at the current situation on the flow of illegal immigrants and the need for strong border security.  In Part Two, we will look at some of the suggestions being made for how to reform the current immigration system, which is clearly broken at this time. Future segments will address plans for what to do with the millions of illegal aliens who have either entered the country illegally, or who have become illegal because of visa overstays.  We will also address additional border security issues and the need to have a national discussion of these topics that is inclusive of sensible solutions to real problems.   Read more »

Senate Candidate Craig James on Business, Budgets and Energy (Video Interview)

The race for the US Senate seat being vacated by retiring Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison has produced some very interesting candidates. People from the grassroots like Lela Pettinger to establishment Republicans like David Dewhurst. A late entry in the race has quickly moved to the top tier of candidates in the race - former NFL quarterback and Texas businessman Craig James.

I first heard James speak at the Saddle Up Texas Tea Party Straw Poll earlier this year and was intrigued by what I heard.

Can Romney Win the Votes of Independents and Latinos - Immigration Policy a Key Issue in 2012

After this week, it appears even more likely that former Massachusett's Governor Mitt Romney will emerge at the Republican nominee for President of the United States. He will move on to face an extremely well-financed incumbent president, Barack Obama, in November. But, can he win? Maybe, but I believe immigration may play the key role in the outcome of the election.

In order to win in November, Romney will have to do three things.    Read more »

Congressman Ted Poe Interview about Attorney Gen. Holder's Judiciary Committee Testimony

In December of 2010, US Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was murdered by a gang of Mexican banditos.
