Texas Legislature Moving Forward on Misclassification by Bob PriceFor several years, TexasGOPVote and ConstructionCitizen.com have been sounding the alarm about issues related to employee misclassification and why this is a problem for Texas taxpayers and businesses. The 2011 Legislative Session was unable to pass any meaningful changes to the law to help correct the problems caused by misclassification. It now appears that a coalition of business associations and concerned legislators may well move the issue forward during the 2013 session.

The Good And The Not So Good And The Fun At The Texas State Convention

While I have to agree that the state convention was a great success, it was not without incident. There were many winners and losers as Delegates campaigned for different positions in their Senate and Congressional Districts making for some tense situations.

My mother (one of my best news sources) called me to tell me that someone had flown into one of the World Trade Center buildings. My immediate thought was a weather related issue. I was stunned when I turned on the television in my office and discovered a burning tower smoking before a stark, clear sky.

Texas Legislature Honors Texas' Fallen Warriors at State Capitol Friday

As Memorial Weekend kicked off in Texas on Friday, the Texas Legislature took a break to honor 96 Texas Warriors who made the ultimate sacrifice for our state and nation.

KXAN TV in Austin partnered with TexasGOPVote to report:

"Every session, members from both chambers - both sides of the aisle, for that matter - they take some time to gather here in memory of those who have fallen in Afghanistan and in Iraq,” said Gov. Rick Perry, as he addressed a joint session in the Texas House.

Sen. Birdwell Wins Again: Democrat Opponent Calls it Quits

The Following is a statement from Republican Party of Texas Spokesperson Bryan Preston regarding Democrat John Cullar officially dropping out of the Texas Senate District 22 race Friday after losing his and his party's frivolous lawsuit against state Senator Brian Birdwell:

"Cullar’s actions today tell us what we already knew, that he was not a viable candidate. The Democrats put him up in the hopes they could steal this office. They filed a frivolous lawsuit to that end. And it blew up in their faces. So now their straw candidate turned tail and ran."
