What an interesting turn of events! Texas State Representative David Simpson will be the main challenger against Rep. Joe Straus for Speaker of the House. Rep. Bryan Hughes has dropped out and endorsed David Simpson. See Statements from Bryan Hughes and David Simpson below.

While I hate to see Bryan Hughes go because he is a good conservative, I am excited for David Simpson because he also is a good conservative! David Simpson has been a fair person who gets along well with other Republicans. He has been a part of many conservative bills,

The administration that was just reelected is plagued by a tremendous lack of leadership, honor and morals. We have been abandoned and conservatives must move forward against this obstruction. We have to clean house in our own party, for instance, the RNC Reince Priebus, all of the ‘established’ campaign machines and someone please yank Karl Rove off Fox News. He was wrong in 2008 and he was wrong in 2012! There are other national ‘established’ Republicans that I am sure you could mention.

Private emails between Texas Speaker of the House Joe Straus staff/leaders reveal Straus's profanity-laden disdain for Texas Conservatives. These emails were revealed on RedState.com.

This is TEXAS for crying out loud! How is it possible that we have a speaker who hates conservatives? These emails that have been revealed should not come as a surprise to anyone because Straus already has a proven record of attacking Conservatives, hurting them in redistricting, campaigning against them, and even giving money to Democrats to beat Republicans.

Texas Speaker of the House Joe Straus had to play some dirty tricks at the State Convention in order to keep from being humiliated by the silent walkout that was planned against him. He wrongly used fellow State Reps as pawns and shields. Joe Straus did not leave the Convention without humiliation though, because Straus was rejected from being a National Delegate!   Read more »

Republican Party of Texas - During the recent debate on the General Appropriations Act, several Republican Party members successfully defunded Planned Parenthood by $61 Million. These members' actions diverted tax money from abortion procedures and instead funneled the funds to worthwhile programs such as Alternatives to Abortion.   Read more »

In announcing his support, Rep. Dan Flynn said, “As Speaker, Ken Paxton will allow each of us to support the conservative agenda that we have been elected on. Ken is a solid fiscal conservative who was here in 2003, so he has important experience in addressing a budget shortfall without raising taxes.

TexasGOPVote previously reported accusations by Texas Representative Bryan Hughes stating that members of the Texas Legislature were being threatened with being redistricted out of existence by a member of Speaker Joe Straus' leadership team, Texas Representative Larry Phillips.   Read more »

Earlier this month TexasGOPVote reported that State Rep. Bryan Hughes was told member's opposing Joe Straus would be "Redistricted out of existence". Speaker Straus denied the charges and demanded to know the source of the threats.

Mr. Hughes sent a message to the Speaker directly, revealing the name only to him.  The name, which remained secret until today, was allegedly that of Republican Texas State Representative Larry Phillips of Sherman, Texas.   Read more »
