Texas GOP Vote

Today I am joining Texas State Representative Wayne Christian in his request to assist Charlie Garza SBOE District 1 from El Paso. Garza is being considered for the position of Texas Education Commissioner. As Wayne Christian explains, Governor Rick Perry is the key person appointing the next TE Commissioner. Garza is a trusted conservative who will see that our values reflect the principles needed in our Texas education system.

The Texas State Board of Education members who are elected by the people could be called the ‘watch dogs’ of our children’s education. What an awesome responsibility. It is critical that as conservatives we elect leaders who are able to stand firm in their decisions concerning our children’s schooling. It is not an easy task being an SBOE member as they must have strong personalities in order to assert themselves in a room full of predators when making decisions on policies and rules that will affect close to 5 million schoolchildren in our public school system. The Blaze has reported that a Teacher in McAllen, TX made her class memorize and recite the Mexican Pledge and Mexican National Anthem.

This is WAY out of line. Learning ABOUT another language and learning another culture is not a bad thing, but making students memorize and recite the pledge to the Mexican Flag has no place in an American classroom.

It is apparent that our Republican representatives have not listened to the cry of the many Texans who have asked to support the State Board of Education members. Instead this HB600 was passed that will hurt our SBOE members and the future of the Texas student caught in this political battle. This ACTION I am afraid is meant to destroy the conservatives on the SBOE.
